"Excellent Location, Friendly and Helpful Staff"
The hotel didn't "wow" us at first, but soon we realized how good it was. It's located on the second floor of an office building at the corner of Grand Ave and Bowery. There are two glass doors on the first floor, and a hallway leading to elevators that take you to the second floor lobby. The lobby is small and rather plain, but the staff (Nathan and Hugh in particular) are very friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable about NYC attractions and the subway system. The hotel appears to have been remodeled recently, and we were very impressed with our room, which had hardwood floors and tile in the bathroom. We had a view of the Chrysler and Empire State Buildings from our room, and the view from the gym (located on the top floor) is amazing. The housekeeping staff was friendly, and the hotel was meticulously clean. The air conditioning, TV, and everything else in the room worked perfectly, and the beds were comfy. The TV even had a "clean" remote, the first one I'd ever seen.
I was in NYC for a week of sightseeing with my kids, and we did nearly all of our traveling by subway. The hotel's location is within a few blocks of a number of subway stations, which is excellent. We'd often see an attraction after breakfast, return to our room for an hour or two in the afternoon, and then head out to another attraction in the evening. Having a hotel room in Manhattan and close to the subway was fantastic.
We were there for a week and I highly recommend it, a great value!
