“Not so great”

The hotel does not smell good - kind of a stale urine, musty smell. Location is convenient and having an on-site restaurant is good. They put me in an outside room and when I asked for an inside door (I am a female traveling alone) I was put in the very farthest upstairs room (no elevators).

“Slightly above basic hotel”

The Boulder Outlook hotel is right across the road from CU Boulder so that's the only reason to stay here. I mean it. The only reason. We stayed here 3 days when dropping our daughter off at CU in August 2011. The breakfast was pretty good. Make your own waffles, cereal, toast, bagels, fruit and hard boiled eggs. The room was very plain but does have good AC, a safe and pretty good TV. The pillows were hard as a rock, and the bed was just OK. The pool and hot tub are indoor and didn't look appealing at all and no one was in either of them the whole time we were there. I am a big swimmer but wouldn't go in. They said it had no chlorine but it smelled very chlorinated anyway. The desk personnel were helpful in finding places to eat. And the price was reasonable.

Area recommendations
Boulder is basically a suburb complete with scores of big box stores. It borders the gridirons, which are like foothills, and it is close to the Rockies. The downtown area and Pearl Street Mall have a bunch of interesting stores and restaurants. Street performers are out every night and it is blocked off from traffic. Going to the CU campus is also a good place to visit.

“Noisy Atrium”

I stayed here while visiting my son at the University of Colorado. Very convenient hotel. The service was good and the staff was helpful in changing my reservation (the first room was on a second floor without an elevator- not possible for me on crutches). Unfortunately, the room I had faced into the atrium where the pool and climbing boulders are. There were children screaming in those areas both early in the morning and late at night. I would definitely prefer a room in the adjacent building if I return. The other minor complaint was that the Continental breakfast was very unexciting. There was no variability and not a lot of selection. For a place to stay while visiting, it was not a bad choice. It was very easy to get to all areas of town. The Green commitment is admirable and they make it easy to recycle, etc. (except for not consistently replacing the bags for the compostable garbage). I would probably stay here again, but would be sure to request a different room.

Must see
Had a wonderful time visiting the Celestial Seasonings Factory. There are free tastings of all of their teas. They give an informative tour (also free) of the factory and there is a nice gift shop. A fun place to spend an hour or so.

“Youthful hotel near CU Boulder”

This hotel delivered exactly what we expected. Inexpensive and youthful. It is a perfect hotel for visiting CU Boulder with kids or teenagers. We could walk over to school via a pedestrian walkway. The free wireless worked great. The pool, spa, and bouldering area were nice. Make your own waffles at the breakfast bar were yummy. The rooms were very basic and the decor is basic motel 6ish - so this is a perfect spot if you aren't going to hang out in the room very much. We loved the dedication to zero waste. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. We will be back.

Area recommendations
CU Boulder campus is beautiful. Pearl Street and downtown Boulder are great to go out to eat, shop or catch a movie. Be sure to go hiking in the nearby hills.

“Nice hotel at foot of Rockies”

It was a very nice trip, from the flight to the rental car use and seeing the countryside while driving from Denver to Boulder. The hotel accomodations were very good and the foot hills of the Rocky Mountains were very picturesque. We attended the Georgia-Colorado football game and the University of Colorado campus was also beautiful.

Area recommendations
All of Boulder, Colo. area I would recommend.
When to go
I would recommend the fall of the year. Temperatures were very pleasant and foliage was beautiful.

“Not To My Liking”

This is a decent hotel if you are a family on vacation. I am a business and leisure traveler and would not rate this hotel at 3 stars. The facility is quite dated and more like a nicer motel. The hallways had an odor similar to that of an old apartment with cats and there is no elevator to the second floor. The staff were very nice.

Area recommendations
A downtown stay is always convenient if budget allows and usually has nicer hotels.

“Clean, convenient, old but well maintained”

Glad we had an outside room. Seems like inside could be noisier with pool, etc., but can't say for sure. There ARE time limits on use of pool, so that's good for those sleeping in the inside rooms adjacent to it.
