“Its all about the view...”

This is, without question, the best location and view in Marseilles. The hotel is high on the luxury factor. Extremely attentive staff and excellent room service menu. The tapas served at the main floor bar were great. The only complaint we had was that the business center was out of commission for all three days we stayed there...more effort should have been expended getting the problem corrected.

Area recommendations
The area immediately around the hotel is the real attraction of Marseilles: the ancient forts, the fantastic dining/entertainment district just East of the old harbour, and the restaurants overlooking the sea.

“Perfect Place To Stay”

The Sofitel was the perfect place to stay when visiting Marseille. I had never been to the city before and wanted to stay in the port. The hotel is just outside of it (approx. 5 minute walk), which is actually better because you are removed from the hustle and bustle of the port's crowds without needing a taxi to take you there. The service, amenities, and aesthetics of the hotel were all top-notch. The front desk was extremely friendly and helpful in finding us a restaurant for dinner. The room's toiletries were Hermes. And our room had an amazing view of the port, which we booked specifically and were glad we did. The hotel's restaurant and bar also have amazing views of the harbor. All in all, I had a wonderful stay and would definitely return to the Sofitel should I ever visit Marseille again! Highly recommended!

“Very Agreeable”

The room is modern and well-furnished, and the hotel is well-located, though a little removed from the other Vieux Port restaurants and hotels. The front desk staff were helpful and pleasant.

Must see
Do take the ferry and see the Chateau d'If, where the Count of Monte Cristo is partly set. The visit takes about 2 + hours in all, and is worth it to literature fans or those who just want to see the harbor (which is lovely). The other boat tour offered in Marseille, of Calanques (coves) is slightly too long and there wasn't enough seating, though most passengers seemed to enjoy it. After the first two, one calanque looks like another. The operators should re-consider the route.

“Usual Sofitel quality”

Marseille is a great weekend destination to see French Mediterranean life, largely unspoilt by adaptation for tourism. The Sofitel is located at the mouth of the old harbour, a 10 minute walk from the old port, and has great views, especially from the (very high quality) top floor restaurant.

Area recommendations
Spend an afternoon wandering round the narrow streets of "Le Panier", have lunch in "Bar de la Marine" on the quayside (think Colin Firth proposing in Love Actually) and see a game at the Velodrome, home of l'OM.

“Luxury with First Class Service - Highly Recommended”

If you are going to Marseille I highly recommend the Sofitel Vieux Port. The rooms are comfortable to the point of being luxurious, and are beautifully appointed. The bar gives excellent service with great bar snacks and the restaurant is top-class (albeit with prices to match). The staff were all extremely helpful and friendly. This is supposed to be a four-star hotel. I would give it five and a half !

“clean, modern and sophisticated”

this hotel is a true 4 star by north american standard. we had an absolutely stunning view of Vieux port, and love that they use Hermes bath amenities. The hotel is about 20min walk from the center of the port, if you want to be in the center of everything, this may not be for you. We enjoyed the 20min walk along the waterfront during our 3night stay. The staff was very helpful and kind, they fixed the elevator squeaking problem the same day we complained and the valet also helped with translation when our rental car won't start up and required a mechanic. We would definitely go back to Sofitel again.

“SOFITEL Marseille Vieux Port: Tout à portée de main”

Lieu magnifique, accueil chaleureux et personnalisé, SPA très apprécié, piscine agréable. Proche du Vieux port, proche plage des Catalans, tout se fait à pied, room service efficace.

Cassis: jolie ville Les calanques: classique Vieux Marseille: joli quartier, plein de jolies boutiques cachées, quartier en pleine mutation Vieux prot: ambiance très typique.

Sehr schönes LuxusHotel mit fantastischem Blick auf den Alten Hafen von Marseille. Vom Hotel sind alle wichtigen Sehenswürdigkeiten schnell erreichbar.

“Hôtel Sofitel Marseille Vieux Port”

Nous avons séjourné une nuit au Sofitel et avons été très satisfait. L'hôtel est idéalement situé tout est accessible à pied, l'accueil est parfait, la chambre très joliment décorée sur le thème de la mer et la vue est époustouflante, le lit est très confortable. Le petit déjeuner se prend au 7ème étage dans la salle du restaurant il se fait sous forme de buffet avec énormément de choix. Nous voyagions avec notre bébé de deux mois, une petit cadeau ainsi qu'une baignoire adaptée, un matelas à langer et un chauffe-biberons l'attendaient dans notre chambre. Que du positif dans cet hôtel 5 étoiles!
