“A beautiful luxury hotel”

We spent ten days in Marseilles and treated ourselves to this hotel for the last four days. It's was just lovely. The pool is gorgeous, clean, cool and inviting. There are plenty of sun loungers around it and a sheltered terrace and drinks/food are served there 24 hours a day. The rooms are large, inviting, clean with great views. It takes about 5 minutes to walk to the Vieux Port one way, five minutes to the beach the other. The restaurant and bar are quite expensive though there are some good deals to be found. I can't recommend this place highly enough; just lovely.

Area recommendations

Le Panier is a lovely part of the city; old town, narrow winding streets, picturesque houses, and some lovely tree-shaded squares with bars and restaurants. Well worth spending a day or two exploring. The Vieux Port itself is lovely. Go in the morning to see the fishermen and women selling their day's catch out of blue plastic crates.

Dining

The Rue de Saint-Saens is nothing but fish restaurants, but they all seem to be pretty good - in the square next to it there are a couple of great bars and the loveliest restaurant in Marseilles - Les Arcenaulx, which I recommend to anyone. Not cheap but not ridiculously expensive and the food is sensational.

“weloming marseille hotel”

very nice hotel, very friendly staff and a good location. enjoyed my stay there very much, my only criticism would be that the price of breakfast was just ridiculous - the breakfast was good, but not THAT good. if you stay there i'd recommend eating at one of the many cafe's in the neighborhood.

“Funky Modern Marseille Hotel In Dominant Position over Vieux Port”

This hotel is about 10 or 15 minutes from the heart of Marseille and in a wonderful position perched as it is above the Vieux Port. The interior of the hotel, it's communal areas and bedrooms have a contemporary trendy theme including multicolour lighting in the corridors. The swimming pool is a good size situated adjacent to the restaurant. The staff were generally welcoming smiling and helpful throughout my stay. Dinner was very appetising albeit a little expensive. Overall I would recommend a stay at this hotel and parking (underground garage by hotel entrance) at the present Euros 12 per day is very reasonable compared with many other rates prevailing in France at the present time.

Area recommendations

The main shopping areas and sightseeing ones are all included on the hotel's city plan (map) - also recommended is a visit to the Prado and the main beach areas, surrounded as they are by white cliffs in stark contrast to the azure blue of the Med . The main railway station of St Charles stands in an imposing position with great city views and it's interior, including a row of "trees" by the modern boutiques makes for a most appealing and different experience.

“A very American hotel in Marseilles”

A new, American style hotel. Close to the old port but quite a trek to the centre of town, metro stop etc. Room modern, clean and comfortable- we had a problem with the aircon which was fixed quickly. Nice pool but didn't open til 9.30 am. Good quality breakfast including mugs of coffee. Friendly staff.

“A pleasant surpise”

New Hotel of Marseille Le Pharo was a very pleasant surprise. Hotel is located right across the road from the Le Pharo Parc. The hotel is quite modern, and the room was very nicely furnished with a balcony overlooking the old fort. Staff were quite courteous and very helpful. Restaurant having indoor and outdoor dining was quite nice ... though the breakfast buffet was a bit pricey for what was offered. Hotel is a short walk (15-20 minutes) from from the hustle and bustle of the port. Being in a quiet setting was actually quite nice ... and was a welcome retreat at the end of the day.

Area recommendations

Recommend visiting the old port area, the old forts, and the artisan district on the east side of the port. A day trip to Calanque or into Aix Provence is a nice change of pace. A boat trip to the Chateau D'If the prison island of the Count of Monte Cristo is a must (at least if was for me).

“First Class Hotel, Can't wait to return”

The hotel was first class, the extra we paid for a suit was worth it. The service was good and staff were very helpful and friendly. I would recomend this hotel.

Marseille is a very busy vibrent resort which is full of life both day and night. The places to visit are to many to mention. It was a great break.

“Excellent hotel”

A very comfortable, friendly hotel, with good amenities and high standards all round. Staff were efficient and knowledgeable, and very willing to help. Bar prices were a bit high, but we expected that! Some quirky lighting and 'team numbers' on staff uniforms added to the experience. I would certainly recomment this hotel to anyone wanting to visit Marseille, as long as they don't mind being a 20 minute walk from the city centre.

Traveller's tip

If you are travelling from the station by taxi in Marseille, beware: the taxi drivers at the station lived up to their reputation of dishonesty, and tried to charge us 25 Euros for a trip that should have cost about 13 Euros. The taxi organised by the hotel to take us back to the station at the end of our stay was absolutely honest.

“Superb”

Fantastic hotel in an excellent location if you want to explore the Vieux Port area of Marseille. With friendly and helpful staff, a relaxed atmosphere and some wonderfully stimulating decor, I wished I could have stayed a few more days!
