“Great value; met expectations.”
I was in town on business, so I wanted something close to Harvard Sq, but didn't want to spend a fortune. There is no T-line close by, but there are buses. Instead, I decided to walk to the Square -- about 20-30 min; perhaps a bit more than I thought, but I knew in advance that local transportation was a bit of a problem. The room I had gave a great view of the Charles, so in the morning I could watch them rowing by in their shells. So pleasant to watch, and up close in the park across from the hotel, it was even better. The Charles is really such a beautiful river, with it's winding turns, back and forth. I've now put it on my "Bucket List": To row on The Charles, surrounded by a symphony of colorful falling leaves. Peace. Heaven. A king sized bed that was so comfy, Very nice. And a microwave and small refrig, so that I wasn't forced to eat in a restaurant every day. On the back side of the hotel is a mall with a huge STAR supermarket that had everything, from prepared foods to fresh fruits and vegetables to frozen foods. Great if you want to save a few dollars on eating, to use for entertainment and other expenses. And for a little late-night ice cream treat while watching TV in that king sized bed. The WiFi was intermittent, so don't count on that, but the parking was complimentary, so you can count on SAVING yourself some money to put toward some T-shirts and other souvenirs, while you're there. Overall, a great value and I DEFINITELY will return.
“Basic but clean”
The hotel is dated and very basic, but clean. It also sits across from the river and is right on a bus stop. I say that because if you don't rent a car, you will rely on public transit. The bus stop directly behind the hotel can take you right to a subway stop at either Central or Harvard station - from there you can go anywhere. I would definitely stay here again; the only thing stopping me is that I want the next hotel I choose to be right on a subway line so I can skip taking the bus. Other than that, friendly, fast service and reliably clean room.
“Service...What Service...”
If you don't mind never having your room cleaned then this is the place for you. If you enjoy a hot room where the thermostat isn't working, this hotel is for you. If you enjoy being woke up by the noiose from the room next door then this is DEFINATELY the place for you.
“Good place to stay in Boston”
Clean, quiet, and convenient for having very decent chinese food.
“A decent and safe room”
We picked this hotel on two factors only, price and location. The purpose of our trip was to check out MIT and Harvard for my son. The hotel is located on the Charles River, just across from Cambridge, with a nice view if you face the river (higher floors will have a better view, we were on the 2nd floor). It is within walking distance of the two schools if you are OK with medium length walks. (Harvard square is a 20 min walk, MIT about 45 min) The neighbor hood is so-so, but we never felt less than safe, so no worries. The front desk staff was very friendly and quite helpful. We had an unruly room of loud kids next door that required a call to the front desk which they handled splendidly. The cleaning staff was good too. The restaurant downstairs, Joyful Garden, was a little more than middle-of-the-road Chinese food, tasty with moderate prices. Not as good as can be found in Chinatown, but very convenient. All in all, if you like to save money on a room to be spent on the actual fun stuff on a trip (eating, exploring, entertainment) then this is an excellent choice for lodging. If you spend all your time in your hotel room during a trip, then you may want to find someplace else. I would not hesitate to stay here again !!
“City Sold Out Only Room Available”
Staff was friendly and accommodating. Room was atrocious. Mold on ceiling in bathroom, paper thin walls (could hear every word of neighbours phone conversation and he wasn't being loud). Wouldn't ever go back.
“wishbone”
very good hotel and excellent price. There is everything that you need in the hotel room, even including microwave and refugerator.
“Very Impressed”
My daughter's pant disappeared from the room. We left a note in the front desk when we checked out. After a few days, the pant was sent to our home. We're impressed!
“Good for a few nights”
The hotel was clean and the staff was friendly, but there is a chinese restaurant in the lobby and the smell traveled the hotel. Overall I would recommend this place if only staying a few days. The parking and internet are free, which is very convenient. It's also about 5 minutes away from Harvard and about 20 min from the center of Boston.
