“Exceeded expectations”

A very good choice unless you really want to be close to the entertainment district and main tourist attractions. Nice area facing the Charles River, easy walking distance to Harvard Square. One of the other posted reviews claimed that the neighborhood was undesirable but we disagree. Excellent service, handy on-site parking. Good value, considering the context of Boston prices.

Area recommendations

Boston Common and the adjoining park. Stroll anong the Charles River. Harvard Square and surrounding campus.

Getting around

Arrive in daylight, bring a good map and/or GPS but if you don't know the city, it's very easy to get lost. Give your self lots of time to reach your destination. If you need help, cab drivers generally give the best directions. Boston is an expenseve city but well worth a visit.

“so so!”

no place to get any food except asian, until I realized that there was a trader joe's behind (open until 10pm only, though). off the beaten path but walkable IF you have the time.

Great hotel, good location, a bit pricey for parking and breakfast but that can be worked around. Very impressed.

How can they charge so much for the room , charge extra for parking and not even offer Continental Breakfast .

“Usually Satisfied”

This hotel has a great location and the staff was very friendly. However, our room was extremely hot when we first entered (felt like over 100). We promptly called and the service person came up right away. We were told that the hotel would not have the air conditioning turned on for a few days. Therefore we had to sleep with the window open to cool it down and that was pretty noisy. Given the nightly rate, there should be air conditioning throughout the year.

“Good value”

I used to live in Boston and go back frequently, so I know the area and hotel well. Convenient location - walking distance to Harvard, Boston University, MIT. Neighborhood is safe - a lot of students live nearby. Rooms are nicely appointed and everything was as expected. Staff members were courteous and helpful. Would have been nice if parking was included since the hotel has its own parking garage, but good luck finding a hotel close to Boston with free parking.

“Great Experience”

My daughter and I went there to visit Harvard and Boston University. The hotel is in a great location for both these schools so this was perfect for us. The surrounding neighborhood wasn't particularly nice though. The staff was exceptionally helpful and pleasant. There was nothing they wouldn't do for you. The hotel was very clean, the only minor problem was that the wallpaper was peeling in the room. The hotel runs an on-demand shuttle service for $5 a day which takes you to several locations in the Boston area and this was extremely useful and efficient. Overall, this was a great hotel for our trip.
