Spent 5 days here and must say it was a great little find.staff excellent and coudnt be more helpful..room was a bit small for three of us but the view was lovely so that made up for lack of space.nice coffee shop on the ground floor.very close to back bay station which was good for us because we had an early train to NYC.
This hotel was not only close to Boston, it was CONVENIENTLY close! But that is not all, it is also located right in the charming 2nd tier city of Medford which also deserves a visit/stroll down the main street for a fine dinner and hospitality experience. It could NOT have been better experience, the check staff was exemplary, the amenities including comfortably heated pool, underground AND parking lot parking, great room, delicious expansive breakfast....on and on. My wife and I are seasoned travelers and this hotel is a jewel in a humble way, nonostentaeous way.
Arrived in Boston to terrible weather and glad we had chosen this hotel, the Precinct Bar was wonderful. When the weather cleared up the location was perfect for walking to the main attractions. The staff in the hotel could not be more helpful and I would return to this hotel if I ever go back.
We stay at this hotel about twice each year because of its proximity to Boston and the Burlington Mall. We have also become fans of their weekend breakfast, esp. (for my wife) the steel cut oatmeal with fresh cinnamon and golden raisins (which is different when ordered fresh vs. prepared from the buffet). Rooms are a nice size, staff is very accomodating, parking is convenient, and there are lots of restaurants to choose from within 15min drive.
I was coming into town for a convention so I was looking for a cheap hotel close to public transportation and the convention center. The Buckminster is a 15 min walk or just one subway stop to Hynes Convention Center and shopping on Newbury St, a 1/2 block from the subway and two blocks from Fenway Park/Landsdowne St. It had the cheapest per night rate as well.
I had a room with one bed but it was a small suite. It is a very old hotel so the rooms are a little on the small side but very comfortable. The living area had a couch, TV, refridgerator and microwave. The bedroom was clean and comfortable. Each room had a closet for longer stays. I also got a $10 coupon per day to use in the downstairs restaurant, which came in handy for breakfast.
