“Pretty Perfect for Us”
This hotel had both ups and downs. The history and architecture were both stunning. Hotel staff was very friendly and helpful. The room smelled odd but was quite clean, there was no evactuation map for fire, and no hot water. We stayed there to see a show at House of Blues ( a two minute walk!) and it was perfect for us just to have a place to sleep. I recommend for anyone looking for a clean bed, but probably not the best place if you'll be spending a lot of time in your room.
“Stubborn”
Had the chance to leave a day early, and Expedia got verbal from the night clerk, but the clerk on duty the next morning would not honor it. Did not have the email handy, so ended up spending the extra night. Hope a higher-paying guest was turned away. Good location, good value. Mostly nice people- stay away from Scott.
“Will stay again”
Location was perfect for me because I needed walking distance to both the Hynes convention center and to Boston University. The T was also easily accessible. Everyone from the parking attendant to the desk was very helpful and friendly. Room was comfortable, breakfast marginal.
“Great location”
Nice hotel in close proximity to the T, Fenway and dining. Rooms are really small but clean. The tub and sink didn't drain very well. Staff was friendly amd helpful.
“good hotel, great location”
Very nice hotel overall. Was a little shocked by price of parking; perhaps that is the general cost of parking in Boston. Our room was upgraded to a suite but the suite was a big strange in that there was no artwork on the walls except in the bedroom; it took away from the feeling of comfort and made it feel institutional
“Highly Satisfied - Recommend”
Great location--close to subway and Fenway Park and within walking distance to BMFA and ISGardner Museum. Safe, lively neighborhood with student vib--some satisfactory eateries. Inviting lobby and friendly, helpful staff. Great continental breakfast with fresh fruit and large selection of teas. Quick elevator. Delux queen size room was a large suite with two separtate bedrooms. Decor was a bit spartan and lacked some conveniences--no coffee maker, no stopper in bathtub, and temperature control was inefficient. Hotel located in high traffic area so it was pretty noisy--best to stay in room on 6th floor.
“Great Hotel in a Great Location”
While the Hotel Buckminster is a little older than the average hotel, they keep things very clean and have all the amenities you might need. Plus it is in a great location, very close to the Kenmore stop on the T (subway). The staff was really friendly and everything was kept very neat around the hotel. The room I had was the perfect amount of space with the bedroom separated from a small living area. Granted the furniture and appliances were a bit outdated but everything was comfortable and clean. I would definitely stay here again, it was nice being in a place that had history in Boston and wasn't just another cookie-cutter hotel. Again, great location too!
“Excellent location and very good value for price”
An older hotel that has been refurbished. Not much in the way of public rooms, but guest rooms are lovely, clean, comfortable. Great location for Boston University, Fenway Park, and other Back Bay activities. Steps away from the Kenmore Square bus and subway stop ("the T"), so good connections for downtown, Amtrak, airport, etc.
“A good choice”
The hotel is an old building so it does not look wonderful and it has a small, slow lift, but it is friendly, and the rooms are clean and well kept. Boston is an expensive city but this hotel was very reasonable. There are two decent restaurants in the same building. The subway station is nearby and it is only a few stops from down-town Boston. I would stay there again.
“Main asset is proximity to Fenway Park / Kenmore Square”
I did not learn what the history of this building was, but it certainly does not seem to have been designed to be a hotel and I think that contributed to the strangeness of staying at there. I am certain that considerable effort was expended to make it what it is, but the facility has the feel of a low-cost do-it-yourself job. The staff were very pleasant, but the adjacent restaurant was unaccountably closed. As a relative value in Boston, I would say there is a logic to this place, but in retrospect I probably would have been happier staying at one of the discount hotels by the airport or paying up for a nicer place.
