Beautiful location. Rooms are spotless and comfortable. Great shower in private bathroom. Breakfast was excellent. Spa and golf available, even though we did not stay long enough to use them. Only downside is the price - very expensive, but overall price is more appropriate for what you get than most other hotels and guesthouses in Iceland during high season.

This was the last hotel we stayed at during our trip to Iceland, and it was definitely a highlight. The guesthouse is very new, but the inside is already extremely comfortable, welcoming, and full of character. The owners were very kind and accommodating (we got lost on our way to the hotel, and the owners arranged for someone to take us from the petrol station in Borgarnes to the guesthouse, and back again a few days later!) and although we only sampled the breakfast, the food was very nice as well. The location is more isolated than we thought, and I would definitely recommend hiring a car or something to make things easier, but the area is also very calming due to how far away it is. It's a good way to enjoy a different side of Iceland without going too far away from Reykjavik.
The hotel is very basic and has few facilities. I didn't find the staff very helpfull or friendly, but to be fair I spent most of my time away from the hotel ( mainly due to the lack of facilities!!) The breakfast however is very good, but again the atmosphere was a little staid. Our experience of the hotel could have been better perhaps if we had been there during the summer months, but it is in the middle of nowhere, so travellers of a weak disposition should perhaps stay in Reykjavic instead.
