I would not stay at this hotel again. The service was bad and so was the area of town. The room didn't even have a corkscrew in it (remember, it's in Bordeaux France!) and it took 3 times for them to provide me with a room that had a King Bed - which is what a booked. Also, every time you wanted to hook up to the wireless internet, you needed to provide your user name and password. My taxi to the airport cost me 55,00 Euros!

“Okay”

Stayed at this hotel at the beginning of April. It's a fair walk to the city's main attractions, and because of construction near the hotel, and probably because of its location generally, the neighbourhood isn't great. Also, we found those at the desk willing to answer questions for us, but really less helpful than all of the other hotels we stayed at (a total of about 7) during our vacation. On the good side, breakfast was very good, as was the room and the hotel itself.

“Good value!”

Good value, rooms are spacious but a big far from the center. Toilet has his and her basins and a large counter top to put things on. LCD TV in room and free Wifi. Bed is comfortable and plenty of space in the room to put down luggage. The only thing in the hotel is the elevators are a bit old but works fine. If you walk it takes half an hour to the main city center. There is a tram available walking distance of about 10 minutes.

Area recommendations
From the hotel exit out the main door and turn right and walk until you see rows of shops on each side of the road where you will reach the downtown area in about 30 minutes on a fast walk. It is not convenient if you don't take a taxi to the hotel as there is no subways in Bordeaux but a Tram surface electric train and not near the hotel. Since we don't mind walking this hotel is fine and great value because of the large room size.
Dining
A great place for lunch near the downtown tourism office is Napolean 8 Cafe. This place serves a unbelievable tasty omelet. We had to go back 3 times just to catch the rest of the menu. Lunch with their recommended wines of course. The price of lunch is very reasonable for this famous city at Napolean 8 about US$34 for 2 people with a main lunch course like steak and fries and wine.

“An excellent hotel, just a little out of the centre of Bordeaux”

The location isn't as central as I thought it might be but a short walk and you can catch a very convenient tram. So all in, quite good. The food and service was excellent and the HUGE space of the foyer and even the rooms were excellent! Very clean and curtious staff too.

Area recommendations
Libourne - a good selection of scenery, shops and rural life with an added bonus of shops, cafe's and restaurants. St. Emilion - Excellent scenery and a must for all who travel to Bordeaux. There are over 800 vineyards too!

“A good value in Bordeaux,FR”

The Photo representation is accurate. This is a very nice, clean, comfortable place to stay, especially if you have a car. There is secure parking and it is easy to drive out of the city to explore the Medoc and St.Emillion.It is somewhat far from the Historic Centre, but accessible by Tram-there is a stop 4 blocks away and it is in a safe neighborhood. The breakfast buffet is very good-lots of choices. We did not eat dinner there, but the menu looked good if you needed to stay at the hotel. The staff was very helpful-English well spoken. The room was large by foreign standards w/modern amenities and a comfortable bed.Seems popular w/tour groups,so beware if you are bothered by that sort of thing.

Area recommendations
If I didn't have a car,I would have stayed closer to the Historical Centre.Bordeaux is a great city to walk around, but awful to drive into the Centre.

“A nice hotel but be prepared for lots of walking!”

Hotel was more than acceptable and the service from the staff was great - everyone spoke good English and they resolved a problem that we spotted with the toilet in our room within minutes. The location was a slight problem as we were at least 20 minutes walk away from the more popular areas that we found ourselves in most days and evenings (parlement place, comedie place etc). There were tram stops fairly nearby and the Chartrons quay area just around the corner had some nice cafes and restaurants.

“Just out of town centre, but quiet as a result. Easy walk to excellent tram routes”

Looking a bit tired, but clean and staff very helpful. Superb buffet breakfast in the garden. Ate out the rest of our meals, or with friends. Our bed was Gigantic, and very comfortable.

Traveller's tip
We found the open air tourist bus very interesting and good value with an English recorded comentary.
