“Not like in the pictures”

No staff were on duty when we arrived on Saturday, and would not be in the building until Monday, so other guests let us in (the door has a code). A note asked us to ring a number to obtain a key for our room from a safe, but the person at the other end of the phone tried to charge us again for the room (another guest managed to get the code for the safe and the key for us). The room we were allocated was smaller than expected; we did not get the beds we asked for; the double bed and bed settee were lumpy and uncomfortable, and the bath and shower were in a poor state of repair (mouldy, and the shower head could not be fixed to the wall). Insufficient toiletries and towels were provided for the 4 of us. After an uncomfortable night's sleep, we left and booked into a hotel.

Area recommendations

Bordeaux is a lovely city with lots to see and experience; we used the tram to get into the city centre from Merignac. Ste Catherine Rue is a long and interesting shopping area, and walks along the banks of La Garonne offer lovely views of the cityscape. Merignac itself also offers good out of town shopping, but lacks charm.

“Convenient”

The hotel was very convenient for airport and for exploring both Bordeaux and the surrounding wine districts. Also convenient for using the park and ride trams. The mini kitchen was great for two meal sa day but I missed big cups for morning tea/coffee. The poolwas great to use after a day of sightseeing, very relaxing. Altogether a pleasant experience.

What to pack

If you arrive on a Sunday make sure you have the basic ingriendt of a meal because shopping in france on Sunday is practically non existent. We used a fruit stall on the main road and an excllent bread shop

“Airport convenient”

More spacious than some airport convenient hotels. We had a car to get to local sights.

“Exceptional value and friendly service”

This aiport hotel was fairly basic, but clean and comfortable, with very friendly and helpful staff. No food available on arrival, but you could have breakfast (we chose not to), and there was a vending machine in the lobby. We had booked a large studio apartment for us and our two children, but they had overbooked the large studios, and so offered us 2 smaller adjacent ones at no extra charge. Close to the hotel (and reasonably easy to find - sign posts from near the other airport hotels), and with plenty parking, it was ideal for a stopover after arriving late, and the rooms were smallish but functional and comfortable, with made-up sofa bed, tv, kitchen area and bathroom. All very clean. There was inevitably some noise from aircraft, but this is a relatively small airport, and the flights seemed to stop overnight, so did not disturb our sleep. Slightly alarmed when we arrived that it was close to a store called "Sexy City" ... but it wasn't a problem, and the hotel was quite suitable for kids - and even had a nice pool. Felt in fact like a family-run place - don't know if it was or not. Great value.

“Great location, clean, good service”

Hotel met all our expectations. The person at desk at check-in was very courteous, friendly and helpful. Room and facilities was clean. Good location for us (close to Bordeaux airport and to center of town). Some things that could be improved: add more parking (we parked just outside the gate since lot right in front of hotel was filled). Internet access was not wireless , and only an ethernet cable could be used, which was not helpful since we had a Macbook Air, which only uses USB. Need to add wireless access. Good point: hotel has a pool, open till 9pm. We arrived at 8pm, just in time to relax by pool for a while after a long drive. Some chain restaurants are closeby, which was convenient since we didn't eat till about 9:30-10:00pm and didn't have time to drive all the way into town.

Area recommendations

Bordeaux is a nice town to visit. We visited on Sunday, which was fairly empty since most stores are closed. Saturdays are very busy and we heard very crowded. Depends on what you want. We liked Sunday since we were able to see city without crowds, but restaurants were still open, and we didn't have to wait long.

“Only If You Have A Car”

Clean hotel; very friendly staff; I had no car and had to walk a half mile for food; only transportation was at airport- a mile and a half away-pretty long walk. No restaurant or bar. Good perhaps for business traveller but would not recommend for leisure travel. Is about 45 minutes from Bordeaux City Center.

If you have your own trnsportation then hotel is fine- no restaurant or lounge.

“Extremely Bad Afterhours Checkin Experience.”

We arrived after their desk had closed, and had no phone. All of their instructions were in French, and there was no phone at the door to access the after hours help desk. Fortunately, after a lot of stress, we ran into a young man entering, who let us in to use the phone inside that connected to help desk and get our codes/key.
