From the moment my family arrived until we checked out the Astoria treated us like royalty. The hotel staff went above and beyond our expectations to make us feel comfortable, relaxed, and entertained throughout the week.
In particular, Hazar greeted us at the dock in the Astoria van and drove us to the hotel. He filled us in on where to eat, what to see, and what to do during our stay. After following his recommendations we learned that he gave us great advice. Later in the week Hazar even gave us a private tour of the island!
The breakfast buffet at the hotel was exceptional. Rosanne and John John made sure we were comfortable and started every one of our days with a big smile and pleasant conversation. Both of them went out of their way to check on us when they saw us outside of the restaurant as well.
Our stay at the Astoria was fantastic. I have paid much more money for hotel rooms and received far less service. I would recommend the Astoria Boracay as the perfect hotel destination for a vacation in Boracay.
Food was great, friendly stuff, away from the noise of bars and clubs.
We had one small problem during our stay, the hot water stopped, not sure why. But a quick call, and staff where there in a flash, repaired, very happy.
We didn't arrange the transfer from the airport to the hotel, cost us 600 peso, which was ok. But the hotel organised the transfer back to the Airport. It was a lot better, their own Air con van on Boracay Island, a boat only for guests of the hotel, and an air con bus on the other island. Definitely recommend organising this before you arrive.
My experience was good, The staff were friendly and willing to go out of there way to make your stay at the hotel and also on the island a pleasant one.
The hotel appeals to Familys,Exchange Students,and People who have a small limited amount of funds and want value for money. It is not the Ritz or the Shangri-La and i think it would be a unfair to compare it against large international hotel chains.
The main shopping centre called D'MALL is approximately a 6 minute ride on motorised tricycle from the hotel
and it will cost you about 100 Philippine pesos for the ride, its well worth it as if you were to walk to D' mall it would take you close to an hour.
The Glass bottom boat tour was a disappointment as most of the coral was black,lifeless,dead however they do not tell you that and it is not until you get to the spot that you feel the disappointment in that tour. Note it is not operated by Paradise Bay.
Reasonable stay at very short notice however for comparable prices there are far nicer options available.
Budget hotel room set in resort style complex around nice lagoon pool. Staff were welcoming and easy going. Room was tidy however bathroom had not been well cleaned and wall mounted aircon was very noisy.
If breakfast is included with your room, be warned that it is a very basic hot buffet with cordial rather than juice and you'd be better off getting something along white beach.
