“Sunny Italian break”
This hotel suited our needs for a location as a base to visit the surrounding country side and cities. It was easy to find the hotel as it's so close to the autostrada exit. Upon arrival the check in staff were extremely helpful and spoke really good English. Our room was on the 3rd floor with Velux windows in the roof, which meant we didn't have any sort of view - the only drawback to the hotel that we experienced but as we weren't ever in the room for very long this didn't hamper our holiday. Breakfast was plentiful and fresh, lots of fruit, rolls and delicious pastries. The pool & changing rooms were always clean with plenty of sun loungers to relax on, towels could be hired for 2 euros each. When we had questions regarding a trip to Venice the young man on reception was able to print information from the internet for us, which answered our queries regarding parking. There is a large Coop supermarket about 5 mins drive from the hotel, plus a huge discount shoe store & other outlets for clothes, plus a few fast food restaurants for a quick & easy snack. Overall we really enjoyed our stay here and would happliy recommend the hotel to other travellers.
“Pleasant and good value hotel outside the city center - July 2010”
We chose the Savoia Hotel Regency because it was outside the city center (where you cannot generally drive) but with excellent freeway access, has ample parking for our rental car, and was close to a busline going downtown. The bus stop is about 250 yards west of the hotel, and taking the bus was a very good way of going to the city center. The hotel itself is situated on very pleasant and large grounds with a good-sized pool in the back. Our family (2 adults, 2 children) stayed in the fairly spacious 3BR suite (basically a larger room - not a true suite). The room was recently renovated with good modern amenities and AC. My only criticism of the room was the bathroom sink which had a poorly designed modern sink with a very elevated faucet (resulting in splashing). Breakfast was included with the room, and was ample with fresh squeezed juice, mineral water, deli meats, mozzarella, assorted pastries, and coffees. Although it suffers by comparison with the wonderful restaurants in Bologna (a high standard), the hotel restaurant is nonetheless well above average. The hotel is one block away from a major road, but the area is quiet with little road noise. There are no other restaurants or shops in easy walking distance, but there is a large shopping complex about 1.5 miles NE which has a COOP grocery store. The Savoia is a particularly good choice if you have a rental car and plan on going on day trips to surrounding towns (Ravenna, Ferrara, or even Parma).
“Great holiday”
We wanted to combine leisure with culture. The hotel offered 4* service with a beautiful pool, while an excellent bus service gave access to Bologna center with its history. The bus cost Eu1 per person per trip and took about 15 mins. We did the tourist bits some days and ate at the hotel restaurant in the evening. Between 50 and 80 Euros depending on how much wine etc we had. We ate 1 evening in Bologna and paid the same, for no better. The cafe by the pool only offered toasted sandwiches for lunch. I found that the restaurant were happy to serve us whatever we wanted under an umbrella by the pool, served from a trolley with proper napkins etc. Different franchise? You have to be insistent. There is piped music - not intrusive but becomes so when repeated and repeated..
“Great location & tasty food!”
The views and setting is impressive. Truly a vacation spot. The hotel staff is very friendly and willing to help out in any way. The variety of breakfast items is excellent. The hotel restaurant is also very good. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone wanting to visit Bologna for an extended period of time.
“As described on web site”
The hotel is ideal for someone with a car visiting Bologna ( which we were ) and is close to the airport and exhibition site. Very well kept and good rooms.
“Great place to stay and eat”
Really enjoyed the hotel. Expedia price was excellent. Breakfast was particularly good and the restaurant was excellent, and relatively good value. All the staff were pleasant and helpful, although they did keep one of our passports accidentally which required an extra trip back. Our room was also a little tight but not unduly for Europe. The grounds are also beautiful although rain prevented us from enjoying them fully. It took a bit longer to get in and out of the city by car than we had expected.
“Savoia Bologna”
Albergo ottimo, piscina grande, ristorante troppo chic.
“Unser Favorit in Bologna”
