“Excellent Hotel”
We spent three nights here and thought that the hotel was truly excellent. We had a superior room on the 6th floor. The room was large and airy with a great view of the city. The bathroom was a good size and the bath contained a jacuzzi which was good fun. The toiletries were good quality. The whole hotel was very modern and clean. There was free wifi throughout the hotel. All the staff were very pleasant and helpful. There is a restaurant which is open in the evening every day except Sunday. We eat there twice and thought that the food good quality and reasonably priced. There was a very good selection of food available for breakfast. The hotel was situated a slow ten minute walk from the edge of the historic part of the city and about twenty minutes walk from the centre of the city. Alternatively there was a bus route into the centre or Reception were very happy to call for a taxi which we found took less than five minutes to arrive. Overall, an excellent hotel which we would happy to recommend and to which we will return on any future visits to Bologna.
“Lovely hotel, just a bit outside centre”
Very good hotel, can't be faulted. It is a good 15 minutes walk outside main centre of Bologna but it is very friendly and clean and a taxi is probably not very expensive if you don't fancy walking all of the time (its very reasonable to get to the airport too). The breakfast is excellent but we didnt use the restaurant or bar. Internet is free so you can check in on line for your flight home and the staff can't do enough to help. All in all a very good stay.
“Wouldn't stay anywhere else in Bologna”
It's about 15 minutes walk from the main Piazza...maybe a little longer if you don't walk at the London pace I walk at. However, when you are eating your own body weight in pasta, you might (as we did) enjoy the exercise! This hotel was spotless. The room was spacious with an enormous bed. The staff were absolutely lovely (ask the front desk to recommend a pizza place that the locals go to....we did and had the most amazing pizza ever). The location is quiet...which is a nice break from the hustle and bustle. I seriuosly wouldn't bother checking out a more central hotel. This was perfect.
“Recommended”
Clean, modern, comfortable hotel. Quiet location within easy walking distance of historic city centre and University district. Easy for getting bus back to central railway station and airport bus.
“Very pleasant surprise! Recommended, business and families alike”
I was a bit skeptical because this hotel was really not "on the map" (ie, no reviews on Expedia? how possible?) - however, what a nice surprise: clean, comfortable rooms with HUGE beds (never seen such great beds in my life - larger than US king size), great breakfast, very helpful personnell, free Internet... you name it. Only small negative: gym (a real + in Bologna) only opened from 10am to 9pm, not ideal for me. But that's a truly minor detail.
“A perfect stay - thanks to the great staff”
This lovely, modern hotel is located 5-10 minute walk to the main centre of Bologna. The neighbourhood is nice and quiet and the staff in the hotel were so friendly, helpful and welcoming - check in was a breeze. There is free wi-fi (the reception gives out passwords etc), fresh fruit on the counter in reception, ice machines on each floor, fresh pastries and free coffee from the machine next to the bar area. The breakfast runs from 7am-10am (7am-10.30am on Sundays) and includes fresh fruit, pastries, cake, cereals, yogurt, cold meats and cheese, eggs (boiled and scrambled), bacon, sausages, pancakes etc. There is coffee, 10 different types of tea, fruit juices, water - pretty much anything you fancy. The food is very good and never runs out thanks to the non-stop brilliant service by the staff. Our room was immaculate and housed the biggest bed I had ever seen - I slept like a baby every night. The room was spotless and everything worked perfectly. The only small gripe is the hotel does not provide an iron in the rooms - this is part of the laundry service (which obviously you have to pay extra for). Other than that the Aemilia was a pleasure to stay in and I was so glad I had resisted the temptation to stay slightly nearer to the centre. Can't recommend highly enough!
“Great value for money”
The hotel was perfectly maintained, the staff friendly, the breakfast excellent. The hotel is conveniently located 10 mins walk to the city. The neighbourhood is a bit average in terms of entertainment and character but the hotel was so well priced we didnt care.
“Excellent hotel in Bologna”
I cannot recommend this hotel highly enough, and thought it was excellent value. It is situated conveniently in a quiet area just outside the inner ring road, and about a 20 minute pleasant walk to the centre. The service from everyone, from the front desk, to the bar staff and the cleaning staff, was both friendly and helpful. It is a modern hotel, so it is functional rather than having character, but everything was of a very high spec. Ask for a room on one of the upper floors with a view of the city. Breakfast, which was a buffet, was good, and adequate, rather than great. There are plenty of rest areas including a bar, lounge, and terrace on the first floor. When the weather is good, it is worth visiting the roof top terrace, where the views are superb. In short, I would not stay anywhere else in Bologna.
“An excellent base for touring Bologna”
It is a good step from Hotel Aemilia into the centre of Bologna but walking along the Via , with its elegant arcades, is in itself a good appetiser. Bologna has a profusion of palazzi and basilicas, not to mention those extraordinary towers, but we also found some wonderful restaurants, each boasting its unique brand of bolognese ragout. Three days and nights passed in a comfortable blur.
“Lovely hotel, shame about the city”
I would reccommend this hotel but we didn't enjoy Bologna itself. It gave off an intimidating atmosphere (we saw someone stealing but no one but us seemed bothered as he ran away) and we ended up staying in the hotel for the 2 days we were there. The hotel is very business like. clean and efficient but not as cosy as some of the other Italian hotels we have been to. The staff were polite but again not as friendly. It wasn't a bad place to go but possibly more suited to trips for business rather than leisure.
