I lived in Cartagena from 1974 to 1975, and I used to walk around the lobby of the hotel wishing I could stay there. Well, it took 40 years, but I finally was able to do it. The hotel is in Boca Grande-you can walk to great shopping and restaurants. The beach is across the street, and the hotel provides private accommodations for you on the beach. There are newer/more modern hotels, but what stands out for me is that this hotel is what I think someone would expect when visiting Cartagena. It's iconic. The pool is outstanding--very clean, and as cliche as it sounds, it "sparkles." There are two restaurants adjacent to the pool--one being more formal. The other offers open air seating. I never ate at the more formal one, but the food at the restaurant I ate at was delicious. Be sure to try arroz con coco (coconut rice) and pie de coco (coconut pie). If you have never visited this hotel before, please know that the restaurants are open throughout the day. Poolside service is always available. There is a great breakfast buffet each morning. Everything I ate was delicious.

Great value! The staff was so helpful and accommodating - they really made this stay wonderful. Modern, new hotel. Well kept. Continental breakfast was great. Basic, small rooms. Working hairdryer. The pool was lovely, great views! Lifeguard on staff all the time. Can't complain at all! Will definitely stay here during my next trip to Cartagena.

We didn't book a room with a view to the ocean and we asked for an upgrade. The hotel had 2 big events going on and I had an issue with the smell of mold and room key not working. They were able to quickly accommodate us and the next day we were given a new room with view of the ocean and no smell of mold. That is my only issue with Hilton Cartagena and I did speak with the front desk when I checked out and they told me it was due to the high humidity in Cartagena.
This hotel was well priced and extremely well-located, well-kept and comfortable for us in every way. We stayed nine nights, and the buffet breakfast was different every morning. The tropical fruit juices were lovely and the food very satisfying. Really, after that buffet breakfast we didn't need much additional food for the rest of the day!
Overall it was a lovely time. The hotel is located on a busy street, but fortunately the walls are thick and it is not noisy inside. Also, there is a lot of night life in the city, but it did not spill onto this block. We were happy about that.

We were at the hotel in early May, which is a fairly slow time. The hotel is quite attractive in an excellent location for restaurants, etc. Not far from the beach. They seemed to be well staffed. Only hesitation is that most staff have very limited English skills. So, like most of Colombia, be prepared with at least a few Spanish phrases.
