“Near Airport and Great beaches”

Excellent situation near the airport and amazing value for money.. but it is quite basic (equivalent of 2-3 stars in Europe). Very friendly staff. Some amazing beaches are around the corner in Pointe D'esny and Mahebourg is a nice town to visit and eat in. I would recommend a car if staying there (there is free secure parking). There is no internet in the rooms. Food is acceptable for a half board but nothing to get excited about.

“Beautiful Blue Lagoon.”

We cannot fault The Blue Lagoon Beach Hotel. We upgraded to an ocean view room and were stunned with the view in the morning when we opened the curtains!! Tropical bliss!! The room was large, tastefully decorated and well air conditioned. The staff were more than attentive, especially the restaurant staff. Some of the younger ones were in training and they were amazing also. The entertainment each evening was lively and fun and certainly added to the holiday atmosphere. The buffet Breakfast and Dinner were plentiful and catered well for all the international visitors differing tastes. The planes do fly over a few times in the morning and again at night but, it was so incredibly loud that it was almost funny ( I guess you have to be there and in relaxed holiday mood.). but, it was no big deal, as it was so convenient to the airport from a late night arrival. The pool was lovely and the gardens were beautiful. Take the Snorkel boat trip ride it was fun. To get a taxi, walk out the gates past all the drivers trying to get your business, and others will eventually drive by and you can, more than likely, half the price. Taxi`s are great though because you can get a travel guide in the deal, as they are all locals. Just realise that they seem to be on a points basis with the more touristy shops, so that if they can get you in their doors, they earn rewards. It took us a while to realise this and in the end we just said "No more shops"!! The bus system is good too.July is winter 26.

Area recommendations

We would recommend that you do a couple of taxi rides around the island as they are relatively cheap and the drivers are full of interesting information. Tell then straight away if you are not interested in shopping so they only take you to natural points of interest or historical sites. The bus is also a cheap way to travel.

When to go

We loved the mild weather in July as it was an amazing 26 to 28 degree`s with beautiful sunny days and mild evenings.

What to pack

Summers clothes even in winter, with maybe a light wrap or jumper for the evenings.

Shopping

This was the most challenging thing for us as we found the shop keepers very very insistent and didn`t give us any time to actually look around and think about if we wanted to purchase anything. I believe it is like this in many places around the world but, it was our first experience. We fully appreciate that they need to make a living, we just found it exhausting and eventually avoided it as much as we could. One secret we can pass on though is that if you can get someone to tell you where a supermarket is ( sometimes hard to identify.). you can purchase water, toiletries, snacks etc.... much cheaper than at the Hotels.

Family-friendly activities

By far the best activity we did was treat ourselves to a catamaran day trip to Ilse au Serf. It was a truly amazing day. Weather was awesome, BBQ on the boat, drinks supplied, beautiful still waters, friendly crew, sooooooooooooo relaxing aswell as plenty of activities when you reach the Island. We loved it.

“not impressed”

A very bad hotel.The meal was very bad,the room with old furniture,to close to the airport(it was noisy).It was also to expensive.I paid to much for two nights-all inclusive and I get only local drinks,that I couldn't drink.

“Expectations fulfilled”

We arrived and were given a very basic (Standard) room which we didn't like...no view and very simple. We asked to see if we could pay extra to get a room upgrade and we got it, the staff offered us the "Deluxe" room. we turned very satisfied with the great sea view and roomy place that we got instead for a couple of hundreds extra..it was worth it, trust me.! The Hotel is nice with daily entertainment and variety on the buffet.the staff there couldn't be more kind... I want to live there to be pampered! It is a very good place for the payed price and the location is very convenient. negative point: it is close to the airport and you will have a huge jet passing low from time to time, not very often really but anoying at night.

“Chambre sordide”

En transit pour Rodrigues, nous avons passé une nuit dans cet hôtel. La chambre (facturée au prix fort en demi-pension) était absolument sordide, sans même un minuscule balcon (un comble pour l'île Maurice) et donnant sur une esplanade bruyante. Le buffet, lui, était franchement indigne. A éviter, donc. Dommage, le Blue Lagoon Beach Hotel est situé sur un emplacement magnifique et le personnel est très serviable.

“Suciedad, Humedad, malos olores....”

Hotel con mal mantenimiento, habitaciones de planta baja que podriamos denominar Zulos sin ventana (la unica apertura es la puerta). Encontramos CUCARACHAS en la habitacion. Habitaciones ruidosas al estar anexas a la zona de "ocio".Directamente nos marchamos al dia siguiente de la llegada, perdiendo el resto de la reserva.

No conozco suficientemente la zona, directamente nos fuimos a un hotel de 5 estrellas cercano al aeropuerto, no tenia tiempo que perder y necesitaba descansar en un sitio limpio y tranquilo

“Blue Lagoon Beach Hotel di Mauritius”

L'albergo si trova in un'ottima posizione, nonostante la vicinanza all'aeroporto (partono pochi voli al giorno e nessuno di notte). La laguna antistante è molto bella. L'albergo è pulito, non si mangia male (la scelta del buffet è forse un po' limitata). Il personale è estremamente gentile. Lo consiglierei.

When to go

Noi siamo andati a fine settembre e il tempo non è stato bellissimo, ma ci hanno detto che il periodo migliore è a fine gennaio (dicembre possono esserci cicloni, anche se è qualche anno che non si verificano).

Getting there

Dall'aeroporto bisogna prendere un taxi, ce ne sono a decine.

Getting around

Vi consigliamo un bel giro dell'isola (in taxi si fa prima, ma se si vuole qualche località vicina all'albergo si può raggiungere in autobus). In 3-4 giorni si possono vedere tutte le cose interessanti che l'isola offre.

What to pack

Naturalmente costume. Se andate quando siamo andati noi la temperatura media è circa 23 gradi e la sera a volte non è proprio caldissimo.

“Que du bonheur”

Très bon séjour .Les prestations sont correctes mais à surveiller dans les prochaines années.Nous pensons y retourner l'année prochaines si les prestations "d'épedia" sont aussi bonnes.

: bon rapport qualite prix mais salle de bain à rénover entièrement ( robinetterie vétuste, manque d'éclairage, juste un filet d'eau de douche en fin de journée...) un plus pour les Bretons : des crêpes au petit déjeuner et surtout tous les après-midi, gratuitement même en demi pension. hotel sans prétention mais agréable
