"Great location and lovely room"
Check in was a good, speedy experience. Unusually for London the twin bedded room had two queen/double beds. The view from the 5th floor was great - overlooking the junction of Southampton Row and Theobalds Road, nicer than it sounds. My only complaint is the toilet flushing button in the bathroom. It was nigh impossible to press with long nails. I would definitely stay again.

"Great old hotel in great location."
I've passed by the Russell Hotel a million times, on my way from the Russell Square tube stop (which is literally yards from the hotel) to various low-cost hostels etc.. This time I decided to check it out. It was great. Designed by the same architect who worked on the dining room of the RMS Titanic, it's stayed afloat, and maintained its Edwardian fussy loveliness.

"Convenient for railway arrivals."
Acceptable for a short stay as long as you avoid room 211. We booked a double for one night and were allocated 211. On arrival found a room where the only window was onto a ventilation shaft which provided virtually zero daylight. The room was so small that access to the bed was only possible from one side. The only way to get to the other side was to climb over. Obviously for those of us of more mature years requiring occasional night-time comfort breaks this is less than ideal. The bed was also only 4 ft 6 ins wide which I believe for a 4* hotel is stretching the definition of double. I returned to reception to enquire about a better room and was given the standard "we are fully booked " answer. However when I complained more vigorously the following morning (following a fairly uncomfortable night) was told I could have requested a bigger room. Pointing out that I had done just that resulted in silence. Breakfast was reasonable and cooked to order although service could have been quicker. Also, to the hotels credit, we were refunded breakfast charge following my earlier rant. The general standard of the rest of the public areas were acceptable but not quite of the standard I would have hoped for in a 4* hotel and I am sure most other bedrooms are of an reasonable size, but I still believe that room 211 should never be marketed as a double..

"theatre break"
Great location for the West End. 8 minutes walking to the theatre. 5 minutes to Oxford Street. Very clean, staff friendly and helpful. Lovely atmosphere in Hudsons Bar after the theatre. Only negative was the breakfast. no cereals. Bacon was very fatty and hard. I asked for berries and yogurt. a got a little pot of yogurt with 2 blueberries.

"Great location"
Decent boutique hotel. Room; clean, overlooking the garden and British Museum on 3rd floor was quiet and comfortable. Location is ideal for walking to most 'sights' and a short walk to underground stations; Russel Square and Holborn. Didn't have breakfast or a meal at the hotel, plenty of choices nearby.

"Nice hotel close to British Museum"
After searching high and low for a hotel in London with 2 Queen beds ( for 3 travelers), I settled on the Grange Beauchamp hotel. It was close to 2 tube stations, within walking distance to the British Museum, and close to restaurants. The staff was very nice and helped answer any questions we had.
