Superb comfort in a rural setting near Gatwick, this magnificent converted priory boasts panoramic views of rolling hills in a truly spacious and serene setting. The staff care about their guests, the rooms are lofty and bright and the Cloisters Restaurant serves delicious fare. The spa facilities are in a separate building and there are acres in which to walk and unwind after a trans-Atlantic flight. The environment is safe, birds and other wildlife are near and the feeling is one of having stepped back in time. It was truly a restful place, which is not easy to find these days.
Went for a weekend break away from London and it was only an hour and a half away from London Waterloo station by rail and travel was cheap. Hotel was close to station and only 5 mins taxi ride away. Hotel was much bigger than it seemed from the outside with a posh restaurant inside, small bar and the room was very spacious with a balcony.
The hotel is a perfectly quaint place in a beautiful setting. It ouses range and class and will be the perfect romantic getaway. The staff are fantastic and the food is superb. I could not find a single fault with our whole stay as the room was also perfect. Overall I would say it's amazing value for money and couldn't be any better, absolutely faultless on all aspects.
Where do I start? We booked a night for a family do nearby, a good night's sleep would prepare us for a hectic day. Our early evening arrival was greeted with locked doors and noone answering the bell. In the end we called the hotel number to be answered by a less than welcoming voice. She reluctantly gave us the code to get in and then talked us through the check-in procedure - not sure I've ever checked myself in before, but there's a first time for everything. Our room was actually ok - except for the curtains which didn't work. We resorted to safety pins to keep them drawn so we could get some privacy from the outside world. The room supposedly had free wifi. Great, we thought. sadly not as we had no key, so no internet access. At least the TV worked! We had booked bed AND breakfast. We should have guessed. We scoured the building for breakfast, but nothing. And nobody. Rather like the Marie Celeste the building was deserted. My partner called the hotel number again to be told that the management were out of the country, she was the caretaker and wasn't expecting to provide us with the breakfast we had paid for. To top all of this, the sign in the grounds outside the front of the hotel clearly shows 4 AA stars. I do have a vague understanding of the star ratings used by such as the AA and really don't think that the Gatwick Inn passes muster. Perhaps somebody has a mischevious sense of humour, but we didn't see the joke. I should add the bathroom was nice!
I was stay in the hotel two days (end of May 2014). I have a late flight and hotel contact with me before and explain how i can check in in the late time. Also they prebook for me the taxi with good price (5-7 minutes from the GATWICK airport).

Very homely feel, just what we needed for a night stay before flying on holiday. The rooms were clean and practical. The breakfast was ideal and the courtesy lift to and from the airport which is about 10 minutes away (on a Sunday at least) made our trip all the more enjoyable.
