“Really nice.”
The hotel was so nice that on one day of our holiday we didn't leave the room! Only downside was no mini-bar. But this was made up for by the bar downstairs being open late. Also, was a bit noisy on Friday night with stag-do groups.
“Go for the Club Room”
Stayed the weekend in a club room. Rooms were great, free alcoholic drinks between 5.30 - 7.30 in the club room, also got a full english included in the price as the club room is closed for continental breakfast at a weekend.
“Good choice”
Although not luxurious, this hotel and its rooms are very well presented and comfortable. Breakfast was particlarly good, especially in regard to the choice available. My only gripe was that we had booked a 'Standard Room' which is supposed to have a Kingsize bed. What we got as a room with two double beds. Because we were only there for the one night and we couldn't be bothered with going downstairs and swapping over we left well alone. The room was nice enough, although the view wasn't the most inspiring - over a roof looking at a dilapidated building opposite. I would readily stay here again, rather than take a chance on elsewhere. Good value.
“Great hotel with a lovely bar”
Spent one night in Birmingham for a James concert at the Symphony Hall. The hotel was a 5 min walk from the station and the concert venue and only a 10 min walk to The Mailbox area with all the higher end shops and restaurants galore. The bar at the Crowne Plaza was great and the bar staff very accommodating in bringing us drinks until 3.30am. Will definitely stay here again when I next visit Birmingham.
“good. not great.”
arrived in early hours of the morning. when we got to the city centre we had difficulty locating the entrance of the carpark. we could see it...but the shutters were down and seemed closed. after reading the signs it advised customers to use buzzer to enter. carpark attendant then came to open gates. don't know if this is the norm for carparks in birmingham however i guess this makes it very safe. on arrival to the hotel we waited about 5-10mins until someone appeared at the recepetion. there was a room behind the reception with the lights on. staff were in the room but didn't bother to check if guests were there. i seen there was a camera at the reception too so no excuses for staff to miss guests. i understand it was early hours of the morning but i did notify the hotel about my approx time of arrival. hotel in general and the room was clean, tidy and very chic. hotel room was a bit dark and the dark decor didn't help. i didn't like that about the room. i wanted to order room service after 11pm, but menu was very limited and didn't end up ordering. close to mailbox but not bullring, nonetheless still walking distance. checkout- same problem. we checked out in the early morning and again had to wait for staff to notice us. prior to booking i was going to book raddison hotel but didn't as crowne plaza had the convenience of underground parking. next time i think i will give raddison a try. crowne plaza wasn't bad, but it didn't 'wow' me either.
“Excellent hotel to stay, especially for NIA”
Very comfortable hotel with good sized rooms very well fitted. Fair access for disabled except for the car park (which is a surcharge on your room). The car parking appears to be the lower floor of a multistorey where the other floors are disused and closed off. There are stairs down to this level, but also there is ample pick-up parking to the front of the hotel. The hotel is very convenient for the NIA and other entertainment areas. The NIA is walkable in 10 minutes and the walk takes you along the side of the canal. Breakfast was excellent with lots of variety and well cooked hot food. The evening menu looked good although we did not eat in and the cost was fair. There is a good bar for drinks in the lounge/foyer.
“For our next visit to Birmingham”
The Crowne Plaza Birmingham was selected to complement our visit to Birmingham to see Dolly Pardon at the LG NEC on our arrival we were extremely disappointed to learn that we were in the centre of Birmingham instead of next door to the NEC. This turn out to be an expensive mistake having to use the service of a taxi to and from the LG NEC to see the show. This additional travelling mean't we spend less time at the hotel as intended. The short time we spent at the hotel the service was faultless. The Staff was extremely helpful and polite. The breakfast was most enjoyable the staff went that extra mile to ensure everyone was being looked after. As a frequent traveller the quality of service we received was very much appreciated so much so that this was relayed to the staff at reception on our departure. Should we visit Birmingham again we know where we will be staying.
“Excellent hotel”
We had never stayed in a Crowne Plaza Hotel but we would do again. The other reviews are accurate and we were not disappointed. We were thrilled with our Club room and the extra facilities which came with it. The staff were efficient and friendly. The hotel is within easy walking distance of the centre which is extremely pleasant. Impressive Victorian civic achitecture with sensitivly sited and crafted modern shopping centres, conference and peformance spaces. Try it.
“Fantastic new years eve stay!!!!!”
Lovely hotel and staff. Had an excellent New Years Eve 4 course meal charged at a very reasonable rate. Bed very comfy and room very impressive. As the hotel was in such a brilliant location we were able to see the New Years Eve fireworks from the bedroom window.
“would stay again”
what can you say we had a very nice trip with no problems
