“don't stay here!!!!!!!”
this is a rubbish hotel..it is next to the railway staion but nothing else...the outside is scruffy..and the inside not much better..we were told that it is in the red light district..judging from the sounds coming from a hotel room near ours, who knows!!!!. The staff are not very helpful and there is absolutely no atmosphere. It is very much dated and facilites they advertise on line are not available. Go somewhere else...thats my advice
“not to be recommended”
very shabby & not at all worthy of 3 stars. although reasonably clean the bed was past its prime & was extremely uncomfortable. reception was little more than here is the key card to your room & then left us to get on with it. room was by a very busy road with no double glazing so traffic noise could be heard constantly.
“Basic hotel”
This hotel is one train stop to Moore Street where you can then go walking to the town. Train is expensive so be careful when you travel, there are pick and off pick times and the price of the ticket gets 1-2 pound cheaper. It makes difference if you planning to stay for a while. Hotel room is clean but it could use renovation. How much you pay that much you get. Solid hotel for cheep price.
“IF YOU CAN AVOID IT !”

“very impressed and I can't wait to go back.”
I was really satisfied with my stay at this hotel spacially the hotel personell. They were very polite and helpful, and the hotel rooms were spacious and clean. The hotel's location was very good, as it is close to downtown Birminghan and its airport. Overall it's very good hotel to stay. The only thing i was not satisfied was the tv; don't have many chanels to choose from and room telephone; don't have access til call international.
“Good Value”
If you are on a budget and like to use the train to access city center, etc. This is a good place. I found the staff very helpful and accommodating. It is, as they say, cheap and cheerful!
“3 months in The Birmingham Hotel”
I stayed here for 3 months while working in Birmingham, and recommended it to several of my colleagues. The beds are comfortable, and the rooms are big (bigger than I am used to getting in Travelodge, Premier Inn, etc). There are no baths, so the shower is in a cubicle which was a good size in every room I stayed in. The only downside is that the shower head is fixed directly to the wall, but the heat of the water is constant, and has good pressure. The decor is a little in need of repaintng in the corridors, as the walls are scuffed/marked in several places (probably due to bags and childrens mucky hands), though the rooms are fine. The car park is very large and more than sufficient for the size of the hotel (I never saw it more than half full, even when the hotel was fully booked). There is a pool table and large TV in the bar. Overall, good value for money.
“Adequate but basic”
Was originally put in a smoking room in error however they changed my room no problem. Room was on ground floor next to busy road which was noisy and the headlights were irritating. That said, it was fine if a little dated!
“You Pay for What you Get!!!”
I stayed at this hotel on a buisness trip. Got a great deal for 2 nights stay. But if I had paid the standard nightly rate I would have been very unhappy. I paid for a single room and on entry to my room only half the room was lit and the 2nd bed was taken away leaving a spare headboard. Also the bathroom was very dated with a broken shower handle. I spoke to reception who were very polite and helpful and said they would sort out the missing bulbs from my bedroom whilst I was out at my meetings. On my return later that night, it had still not been done and on day of departure it had still not been done. Also this hotel is not suitable for anyone with walking problems as no lift. My room seemed to be in the heavens along lots of corridors. It reminded me of "One Flew Over the Cuckoos Nest",Where´s Johnny!!!. So its ok if you are not fussy and looking for a basic cheap night. But dont pay any more than 30 a night as you will be dissapointed.
“A little off the beaten track!”
This place is old but friendly, and right on the train line so it was convenient for us since we were traveling by train. We enjoyed a less hectic area to stay. However, the cab fare was quoted to us as 6pounds to the Birmingham Internation airport and it turned out 12 pounds...perhaps our cabbie was a little greedy??? or the front desk personal needs to get up to date...Having a restaurant in the hotel was also a plus for us.We'd stay there again.
