“WORST HOTEL EXPERIENCE EVER”

The hotel does not provide a bellboy or has an elevator and to go up two flights of stairs with 3 suitcases(while the duty manager/staffs stand there and watch without offering to help) is no easy task. the rooms are very small. If you are looking for somewhere quiet I totally would not recommend this hotel..a simply walk down the hall is disturbing.clean towels and bed sheets are left on the dirty floor by your door for room service.rooms are not vacuum during your stay.I would not recommend this hotel to anyone.

“Forgeable stay”

Whilst the room was very cheap through Expedia the standard matched this. The room measured about 2.5m x 3.0m. The toilet only worked spasmodically and you needed to run around in circles to get wet in the shower. There was paint flaking off the trimming everywhere and there was a lot of mold in the bathroom. There Seemed to be a lot of staff on duty however they did not appear to understand that they were there to be helpful. breakfast was good however the 2 meals I had there got a 50% hit rate, they got my order right once and wrong once.

“Location is everything”

We were down from Scotland to attend a funeral at the Sandwell Valley Crematorium. We wanted a hotel nearby and the Great Barr Hotel is perfectly located. It has a huge car park, but beware the many sets of stairs inside if climbing steps is a problem. Our room was comfy, clean and well equipped, but not spacious or well finished. The heating was too hot and not controllable by us. The staff were very polite and helpful and we would certainly use the hotel again. However, don't expect spot-on hotel service, as the hotel seems to cater for neighbouring housing as much as its travelling guests. The restaurant provides excellent food, but they didn't seem to have been told we had made a booking: hence they expected everyone (including our party of nine) to want to choose from the limited specials menu: we weren't shown any other. Similarly the sports-bar, which is very comfortable and pleasant, catered for those looking for a bawdy night out and a bag of brought-in chips alongside paying residents. It would have been nice if the bar staff had tried to maintain a more family-friendly atmosphere all the time. However, the custom of the friendly locals clearly keeps the food and drink prices down, which is a good thing. The Great Barr Hotel is very close to both the M6 and M5 junctions, so it's a good place to break a journey without breaking the bank.

“A very enjoyable experience.”

I was extremely happy with my stay at the Great Barr Hotel. The staff were all friendly and helpful and overall the hotel was well maintained. My room was very comfortable with large screen TV, setee, double/twin bed, well stocked tea and coffee tray and good quality fixtures and fittings. The whole room, including the en-suite bathroom, was very clean and tidy. I was impressed with the buffet breakfast, the food was excellent not only in terms of the wide choice available but also the quality. The breakfast certainly set me up for the day ahead. If I'm in the area again the Great Barr Hotel will certainly be my hotel of choice, I would definitely recommend it to other travellers.

“comfortable alternative to a city centre hotel”

The hotel is quite a long way out of Birmingham city centre but when the main hotels in the city become booked up you may want to consider this one. Modern decor, very reasonable room (the bathroom was a bit smaIl), a good LCD TV and an extremely comfortable bed - in fact a brilliant bed. A full English breakfast was included and this was the serve yourself sort but very good. There's free Wi-Fi in the main areas downstairs and the grounds aren't at all bad. I didn't have the use of a car and if walking appeals to you (it generally does to me) then Hamstead station is about 35 mins away on foot with very cheap fares to Birmingham. Look at it this way, if you have a large breakfast at the hotel you'll be grateful for the walk to the station. I was impressed with this hotel and, for the bed alone, may go back soon.

“Hotel in Autobahnnähe”

Reisen Sie also mit Oropax an!
