“Great job Homestead”

This is the first time that I've stayed at Homestead in Alabama. I have however stayed with them on visits to Florida. My overall rating with them is 5, and that simply is because Homestead excels at what it was designed to be - an affordable, clean place to spend the night away from home. If you're looking to be pampered while away from home - room service, spas, gyms, or other amenities found at some resort-type hotels - then this isn't the establishment for you. The pricing, kitchenette, and breakfast bar area make staying at Homestead a no-brainer choice for me when I'm on the road.

“Not a good hotel”

This hotel does not have elevator, but have 2 floors. If you have big luggage, you are not going to live in there. Bad refrigerator, can not make any ice, but weather is so hot. Not hair dry. No ice maker. No breakfast. No internet, unless you pay for it. Bad hotel.

A lot of shopping center around. Good for shopping.

“Eh”

My stay was not bad. The hotel service at the front desk was horrible, there were three women (staff) talking and it took about 20 minutes to check in, also the location was alot farther away than I thought it would be, but those were my only problems. The hotel was quiet, and reasonably clean. Overall, it was a nice stay.

“Nice, Safe, Clean, & Affordable!”

Great as a home base or if you're just passing through--and I was! The hotel itself doesn't have much outside the room (no pool, spa, or gym), but the room has you covered with virtually everything you need (clean beds, clean bathroom, cable TV, fridge, microwave, stove, dishes, etc.). As for location, it's extremely safe, very close to I-459 (the Birmingham By-pass), has two nice restaurants within walking distance, and is pretty close to the area conference center. As for Birmingham destinations and entertainment beyond those restaurants, I unfortunately don't know, but don't assume! It's worth checking out!

Dining

As I said above, there are two restaurants like 50 feet away from the hotel. One is a Thai/Japanese place that I tried and would recommend (family friendly). The other has kind of a sports bar atmosphere (not so family friendly).

“Would stay again.”

Went to hotel and stayed for 3 nights. The room was clean and the people who worked there were nice and attentive if we needed anything. The room was really worth what we paid for the stay. My husband and I would definately stay again the next time we are in Birmingham.

Area recommendations

The entire city of Birmingham. There ae so many places to shop, eat, and entertain yourself.

My husband and I ate at the Superior Grill in Birminghan. It is a Mexican food restaurant. The food was really great.

“VERY DISSATISFIED.....”

The overall stay was acceptable but I had a few issues. There is a fee for both daily cleaning of the rooms and you have to go to the front desk for towels and anything else you might request. I personally will NOT be returning here anymore due to my finding ROACH DROPPINGS in the eating utentials , mold growing on the tub faucett and the tub stopper didn't work. I wouldn't recomend this hotel to anyone i care about. The hotel was also situated in a area that was hard to effectively merge into very busy traffic on top of everything else.
