“Can't beat the convenience or closeness to the airport”
Sure it is not a destination hotel. And it is not in a great neighborhood. But if you need a hotel close to the airport, which I did because I had a 6 a.m. flight and needed to return a rental car then this hotel fits the bill. It was reasonably priced, clean, and the staff was very pleasant,

After a 3hr drive from Fort Benning, this hotel was a welcomed sight. The staff was caring and the room was perfect. Restaurant food was great!

My only complaint was with the breakfast at the hotel. Burnt bacon, cold eggs. Hard to believe, there was a $5 charge for the breakfast.

“Nice hotel”
The hotel itself was nice. The room was clean and comfortable. The neighborhood seemed a bit run down, but overall it was great. The only problem I had was with the restaurant inside the hotel. We went down for the buffet breakfast and they only had 2 staff working to serve coffee, etc. for several tables. The bacon was burnt, the eggs were rubbery when there was any in the container, the biscuits were burnt and the fruit still had green edges on the pieces. Not good when you're charging $4.99 each.
“Need better customer service.”
Customer shouldn't have to wait a hour or more on food or service to any room. Need better hotel service and promtpness.
“Great Location, So So Hotel”
Hotel is clean enough, but it is the little things that don't add up, like the drapes that you can't open, the tub that doesn't drain, the tiny vanity, overall old appearance. However, if you are looking for a place to sleep and good location at a great rate, and the little things don't matter, then this is your hotel.
“Holiday Inn Birmingham”
The hotel has obviously been renovated in recent years. It's not awesome, but it's not awful either. Having enjoyed a little over a week in Alabama I had chosen this hotel for its proximity to the airport on my last night in the state. Unfortunately, I didn't know how close it was to the multilane highway. You get a fair amount of highway noise which can be drowned out with the AC. To be honest had any of the staff returned a smile I would have felt more welcome, but the receptionists and whom I presumed to be the day manager wouldn't break a smile at all. All in all good hotel, not brilliant location for highway noise, but clean and well cared for. Shame the staff appear so dissatisfied with their jobs.
“Convenient to airport”
Although the front desk staff was very friendly when I first arrived, I was a little disappointed with the overall condition of the hotel. The hallway floors leading to both the elevators and the rooms were sorely in need of updating. There were dirty spots along the edges on the tile floor and the carpet either needs a major cleaning or just be replaced. The elevators were also painfully slow, with only 1 out of 3 being in service for that night and next morning. However, I was pleasantly surprised when I opened the door to my room and found it to be beautifully decorated as well as very clean. The neighborhood of the hotel is a little questionable, but my only time spent outside was walking from the airport shuttle van to the front door. The proximity to the airport is a matter of minutes and I barely had to wait when I called the shuttle at 10:00pm to come and pick me up to bring me to the hotel.
