Hotel clean

Posted 15-Apr-2014
Pros: Waiter staff fantastic
Location: It was right next to the NEC which was the purpose of our visit
Hotel was good it was other guests that let it down, at one thirty in the morning a few girls shouting and laughing in corridors.

Great location for LG Arena

Posted 14-Apr-2014
We had an executive room that allowed us into two executives suites serving sandwiches and cakes in the afternoon and nibbles in the evening with drinks. Very nice

Reasonably Good

Posted 14-Apr-2014
I initially booked my stay via Expedia, one thingf I would like to highlight is that I wanted a double room as the stay was to celebrate my first Wedding Anniversary, we were given a twin room and then had to pay extra for an upgrade.

Not value for money

Posted 13-Apr-2014
I had to think long and hard before leaving this review because although it was a perfectly pleasant visit, the cost of the stay made me feel short changed. The hotel itself was clean but tired looking, and the room wasn't that big. For the money it cost I was expecting something a bit more special.

Ideal for concerts n the L.G Arena.

Posted 08-Apr-2014
Pros: Close proximity to the LG Arena. Literally just 10 minutes walk.
Cons: Plane noise could annoy light sleepers - it didn't bother us.
Stayed one night when attending a concert at the LG Arena. Parking £9 a night. Very close to the venue - just walk through the back of the hotel and along a pleasant path by the riverside. We had the buffet breakfast included - a good range of food and the staff coped well with the large number of guests. There is a spa and swimming pool that looked good but we didn't use.

one night stay to go to concert in NEC

Posted 01-Apr-2014
Pros: The receptipon looks nice
Cons: well...
Location: NEC is walking distance
Shocking. When booking I booked a Queen Executive Room, I was assuming I was going to be in a fairly decent room of corse with a queen size bed. Apparently not, it was a double...on wheels? I contacted reception who relayed the measurements back to me and advised me that this bed in-fact is classed as a queen size bed.... in America, I apologised as I thought Birmingham was in Britain and for not bringing my tape measure. I was offered a cheap bottle of wine as an apology. The room its self was big enough for a large hamster it also smelt like an old peoples home. The bed was like a hospital bed on wheels, luckily we were not having a romantic night in as we would have ended up wheeling out into the corridor.

Shuttle bus service

Posted 01-Apr-2014
Pros: The room was clean enough and the reception staff good except for the concierge.
Cons: Ensure gratuities are distributed to the staff who deserve it!
Location: As above it was for a stop over to go on hol the next day, unfortunately not a goo d experience!
We had to ring three times for the shuttle bus to come and collect us from the airport. It was a very cold wind and the concearge argued with me saying that they only come out on the hour and half hour. When I complained because it was so cold he was not very polite. There were six people waiting in the cold for this bus so it would not have been a wasted journey. When we did actually get to the hotel we wanted a nice hot cup of coffee to warm us up. We ordered four lattes, when they came they were Luke warm, we asked them to be reheated which they supposedly did but they still came back Luke warm. If that wasn't enough we then had to pay over £20 for the privedge of four Luke warm coffees and they charged us a service charge. We then went up to our room which was clean and tidy and had a hot cup of coffee. We then went down for a bar snack as that is all we wanted. I had the most expensive fish finger sandwich ever, it cost me £15 for a sandwich and half a cider. When the bill did come they tried to charge me for a pint of cider and again a service charge. I did ask for the bill to be reviewed, they did take off half a cider and the service charge because I had said that I did not want to pay it on the basis the waiter or waitress does not get this money it goes directly to the hotel and not distributed amongst the waiting staff. It is a shame that my overall experience of this hotel is poor, I will not use this hotel again, and think twice about using a Hilton!
