Room looked tired

Posted 29-Jul-2015
Busy hotel. Service in the bar for meals and drinks was slow and we waited 20 minutes for our order to be taken. Communal areas well presented but I felt the decor of the room was a little tired looking and in need of modernisation as not to the standard I have experienced at other Hilton hotels.

Second visit, first time staying

Posted 21-Jul-2015
Overall the hotel is very nice, however for the comfort of the bedroom and price of a nights stay it is a little expensive. The street food that was on during the convention was very nice, and should be made more available for the guests.

Good hotel for NEC

Posted 14-Jul-2015
Pros: The location to the NEC.
Cons: We went to an evening event in the NEC. The bar in the hotel got very very busy and they did not have the staff to cope or for food.
Location: Nothing near by. Close to airport.
We choose this hotel for the location to the NEC Birmingham. You can walk through the hotel and then through the hotel gardens to the entrance of NEC. 10 mins walk. The hotel staff were good and helpful . Check in time is 3pm but we arrived about 1.15pm and had no problem getting a room, which was just as well as 3pm they were queuing out the door! Concierge were very helpful and let us park the car in the car park right outside as I have difficulty in walking. On checkout you can pay for the car park or pay at the concierge desk.

Near to the airport the only good thing

Posted 12-Jul-2015
Pros: N/A
Cons: See review above
Location: Near to airport
Check in was good. Room was not what we expected, toilet flush handle had to be manually returned, heating controls did not work. Bar staff liked to chat a lot between themselves, and when you ordered a drink seemed to to be put out having to serve you (tried to serve me a beer in a wine glass!). We were told that we could be served from our table in the bar area yet after returning to the bar area and waiting 20 minutes for service decided to go to the restaurant. Menu limited, salad came with a dressing which was not stated on the menu and yes served my Leffe beer in a wine glass. We will not be staying there again. Very disappointing

Great location for NEC

Posted 10-Jul-2015
Overall our stay was pleasant and reasonably priced. Hotel is a short walking distance from Birmingham International train station and NEC - which was great. Room was uncomfortably hot, when we complained we were told maintenance would come and fix the temperature control in our room but no one ever arrived. Other than that, no complaints.

great location for LG arena. Not a great hotel

Posted 09-Jul-2015
I upgraded our room to a suit- a delux king suit with exec access. The room itself was ok, but very dated, there was a small double bed, the air conditioning didn't work and there was no mini bar. When you have paid over £3300 for a room-you expect better. When we went to the exec lounge, they only served wine and beer and there was no where to sit as there were so many people in the room. Overall I was very disappointed

Hotel within walking distance of Genting Arena

Posted 08-Jul-2015
Pros: Very convenient, clean and comfortable - breakfast (included in rate) was first class. Comparatively easy to get to from East Anglia.
Cons: Unable to eat there before concert (one restaurant closed, others full - this was a Saturday and hotel busy) -other guests had same problem
Stayed for one night when we saw Fleetwood Mac in concert at Genting Arena

Slow, Slow, Slow but close to the NEC

Posted 06-Jul-2015
Pros: Closeness to NEC
Cons: Only allowed 150 characters so best leave it there.
Location: NEC, Airport, Train Station, Lake.
Booked late to be able to enjoy overnight following Fleetwood Mac concert at Genting Arena. Started badly with car parking limited by poor parking on the part of people who seem incapable of occupying just one space or we could park in another valeted car park for yet another fiver!!! Finished up parking on a grass verge. Check in was then painfully slow even though pre-paid through Expedia 20 minutes of waiting and then repeating the booking data already supplied!!! Good news though - the key worked - Hoorah. Tried to get into the Restaurant to enjoy a leisurely meal but no spaces for at least 90 minutes - strangely there were several empty tables visible. Overall, the experience leaves me feeling negative about this Hilton Hotel and it will take a lot of persuading for a return visit especially at these price. Disappointing.

Pros: Lovely pool
Cons: parking spaces are narrow and so cars sometimes take up two spaces
Location: NEC and Genting arena
Chose this hotel because it is well positioned to visit the Genting Arena. Arrived and eventually found a parking space. Went to room and then went swimming. Lovely quiet pool. After returning to room and changed went to the lounge bar for something to eat. Excellent range of food choices and even though very busy the service was swift.

Conveniently located hotrl

Posted 06-Jul-2015
The hotel has plenty of parking at a reasonable price. Our room was ready when we arrived at 2 pm and was immaculately clean and tidy. I thought the food and drink was a bit pricey but could not fault the quality. We went to a concert at the nearby Genting Arena and after the concert it took about 20 minutes to get served at the bar but I suppose that was understandable. Overall a good well run hotel
