Great hotel for access to the Birmingham NEC

Posted 15-Apr-2015
Pros: Great location next to the NEC, Airport, Motorway and Birmingham. Good fitness centre with pool.
Cons: The hotel did not have any WiFi in the room!
Great hotel for access to the Birmingham NEC and train service to central Birmingham, only problem being no Wi-Fi in the hotel rooms.

Good value for money

Excellent location for our needs. Efficient and friendly staff, comfortable room, good breakfast and good leisure facilities. One of the best neck and shoulder massages I've ever had given by Marie. Thanks

Hilton Metropole Birmingham

Posted 03-Apr-2015
Pros: The bar area had a nice vibe
Cons: Larger car park, larger rooms, needs updating, full hotel maybe not enough staff in the bar area (long waits to be served) run out of space!
Location: Great for NEC nothing much to do as it's based there for the NEC, airport, train etc.
Rooms very small and too warm. Hotel very dated you are paying for the name and location to the NEC. Car park was full with not enough spaces to park. Strange lemon smell like cleaning products all around the hotel. Next time I would rather stay at a Premier Inn as the rooms are larger for a fraction of the price.

Disappointing experience..

Posted 27-Mar-2015
Pros: Good breakfast
Cons: The WIFI policy is ridiculous and outdated and the beds are extremely uncomfortable.
Location: Very close to the Birmingham NEC.
I stayed here with my daughter for one night as location wise it is excellently appointed for the Birmingham NEC. At first glance it is a nice looking hotel inside, very clean and smart. The breakfast which was included was very good also, no complaints there at all. Now the bad bits, they advertise free WIFI but I only found out there that this is in the common areas only. They want a whopping £14.99 for you to be able to use it in your room, I'm a photographer and need to constantly check emails and work whilst away so this was not ideal at all. Even budget hotels have free wifi onsite in rooms so Hilton really need to address this. Secondly, the beds, I think I averaged around an hours sleep because the bed was so hard, even my ten year old who normally sleeps like the dead was up constantly throughout the night because they were so uncomfortable. I was disappointed because it certainly wasn't the cheapest option and I wouldn't stay there again unless it was really necessary.

Not very executive suites.

Posted 27-Mar-2015
Cons: decor, wifi
The executive suites do not match up to their name. The carpet is a patchwork of various pieces, there is no fridge, the wifi is non-existent. We complained every day that the wifi signal was almost non-existent and were told every time that there was a BT engineer fixing it!! The only saving grave is the executive lounge which offers some respite from the awful rooms. Stay at the premier inn, (the other end of the NEC) it's less expensive and quality is consistent.

NEC must stay hotel

Posted 25-Mar-2015
Pros: Staff, room and facilities
Location: NEC and train links to Birmingham city center very close.
Going to NEC to see Spandau Ballet. Chose this hotel as it was offering a good deal. It turned out to be an excelent choice. Just a five minute walk to the venue and train station for next days shopping in Birmingham. Cannot praise the staff enough they were all so helpful, polite and accommodating. Nothing was too much trouble. Would definitely stay again. Easy to find. Easy to park. Room comfortable and very quiet.
