“Hampton Inn Downtown Birmingham, AL”

Be aware there is no parking. Valet service is $18.60/night adn it is the only way to park your car. But it is a 24/7 service and they were very good.

“Southern Comfort”

The hotel was just as beautiful as the pictures on the website. The staff was terrific!!! Everybody was helpful and polite, we were treated like queens. The beds were so comfortable, my mother, daughter and I just wanted to stay in bed the whole day. I know there will not be another hotel we will stay in while visiting Birmingham. Loved the atmosphere and walking distance for all kind of entertainment for every age.

Family-friendly activities
Coincidental there was a parade/ walk-a-thon at the park right next door to the hotel. So many vendors were out passing out fruit, water and so many other free gifts to all that came. There were so many activities for my 5 yr old daughter, she even got her face painted. Not to mention live music was being played, we almost forgot that we were in Birmingham for a different agenda.

“Great experience”

The staff was very friendly, the room was comfortable and clean. I would not hesitate to recommend this hotel to anyone and would not hesitate to stay there again.

“Downtown Birmingham”

We stay here when we go to Birmingham and have enjoyed the Tutwiler each time we have gone. Rooms are nice, staff are very polite and helpful, very nice bar.

“Enjoy Your Stay”

I enjoyed my stay. The hotel is close to museums and dining, but is more for the location since most of the action is on the other side of town. This was a nice vacation and we were able to get away from the sounds of the city, by being in the city. The staff and everything was great. The only thing I would say bad is the hotel restaurant is not as quality as you could find anywhere, and I mean anywhere, in town.

Area recommendations
Downtown, because most of the other hotels do not feel the need to make an effort since they know they are the only places in town. I think that the downtown hotels are going to have a nicer facility and care more, since they are working harder to develop a reputation. The rest of the neighborhoods are all having a competition to see who is the wealthiest, and the hotels are run by people that could care less about your oppinion.

“Great time at the Tutwiler!”

We had a great long weekend at the Tutwiler, attending a friend's wedding. The rooms were comfortable, the bed was great, the old photos around the hotel were fun to look at and the courtyard wedding and catering were awesome (especially the shrimp and grits and blue crab dip). We parked on the street next to the hotel and enjoyed walking around downtown in the mornings. The park was nice but we avoided it late and early "just in case". Our room heater did not heat on our arrival but a call to the front desk resulted in help at our door within 2 or 4 minutes, a replaced filter, and a rapid return to the set temperature. The bath rooms were ample and in room coffee and 24-hour-a-day coffee and tea service in the lobby was a nice touch. Desk help was cordial and helpful. We did not use the fitness facilities and sat in the bar only for the last few minutes of a football game. Overall, a great visit. We would not hesitate to return.

“Always a great stay!”

This is a beautiful historic hotel. The remodel of the hotel has allowed the historic charm to remain. Great service and the breakfast area on the 8th floor is fantastic. Great views of Lynn Park. Parking is always a bit tricky if your stay is during the week, valet would be a must! The meters are off from 6ish Friday to 8 Monday morning, so weekend parking is a breeze. As with any urban stay, do get good directions back to the main roads (280, 31, I65. I20/59) from the concierge as the map sites often take you into rough areas of the city.
