“Functional, clean, efficient”
Fairly low budget hotel but clean, compact but well set out rooms located in centre of Birmingham. If you just want somewhere to sleep then you could do alot worse than here. Only slight gripe was room was very warm and couldn't find a thermostat.
“Cute and cozy”
The hotel was modern, cute, and cozy. Beds are nice, firm, and not sagging. The rooms were made up with very modern furniture (like from IKEA), with a touch of the college dorm. Bathrooms were nice and comfortable. It was a good location to walk to the city centre, but we would have liked the other hotels that were closer. The only thing that I would complain about were the ultra thin walls. We heard next doors conversations clearly until they fell asleep. The hotel was reasonably priced for the weekend. Would return and stay again.
“Nice”
Pros - Nicely decorated room with no signs of wear, Comfortable relatively deep bath, reasonable room service menu, good buffet breakfast with wide choice of food, slept well, despite being on a corner next to a fire door. Cons - only bugbear, is that the desk in my room, was too tall to use comfortably with a laptop. I'm 5ft 10, and my elbows were under the level of the top of the desk...when sitting in the chair provided.... Worked well as a dressing table though.
“Modern, comfortable and clean”
Spent two nights here in one of the refurbished rooms. Very comfy, clean and modern. Staff were friendly and helpful, there is free Wifi, the hotel is in walking distance to the centre of Birmingham. Good value for money, too, as I got the second night at a reduced rate. What's not to like?
“Not really an hotel”
If you expect an hotel this isn't one. It's conference centre with accommodation and facilities made available to clients other than conference delegates. The rooms are fine, if basic, but the bar is forgettable, and check out at 0930 is a surprise.
“Great lighting in room and huge desk for business purpose”
Superb comfort in the room thanks to the great lighting and a very long desk for laptops, papers, suitcase, ...whatever you could have in a business trip. A lot of sockets for your chargers. Maybe a little bit too much walking to the neiborhood since it is inside the campus.
“Could do better”
No tea bags on the first night and then missing milk the second night. Surprised that the superior room don't have a king size bed. Luckily got a parking space in the visitors car park which I understand is lucky as the number of spaces available is far fewer than the number of rooms. Short walk into the city centre perfect for the shops, etc.
“pleasant university hotel in Birmingham -- good value”
This hotel is a good value for Birmingham. Quiet, safe area. Easy walk to center city and Bullring. Several pubs nearby. Breakfast on Expedia was GBP 50 additional per night -- that made no sense so we bought breakfast elsewhere. Hotel is owned by Aston University as part of the conference center. From the airport, take the train to New Street station. Hotel is a short cab ride.
“Good location for an event”
Great - would go back.
“Very pleasant stay”
I booked two rooms at the Aston Conference as there didn't appear to be much choice left by the time I got around to booking accommodation for the date/price we needed. After reading some reviews, I was a bit dubious as of what to expect. We only needed somewhere to sleep, shower and have a quick drink at the bar. I was very surprised when we arrived at our room after reading other reviews.......the room was in fact really nice clean and so was the bathroom. We couldn't really have asked for more. I would recommend this hotel based on the experience we had.
