“Won`t be going back”
I chose this hotel because it was near to New Street station & I had a very heavy bag with me. My hotel room was on the 7TH floor, I do not like lifts at the best of times, but I was told to go via the lift. I eventually found my room & after several attempts I managed to open the door. I was hit by sauna like conditions, the room was a good size, but the heat was unbearable. The radiator was that hot you could not touch it. I looked to see if I could turn it down, but It was not possibel. I then tried to open the window, which I found almost inpossible because one of the beds was against the window wall, & I can not move heavy furniture or kneel on furniture. I therefore suffered a very over heated room. I was woken at 1am, by very noisy people in the ajacent room, I did not sleep very well , because it was too hot. I walked down the stairs the following morning. I was not greeted when I handed the room card in, it was just taken off me, and I was asked room number. I will not be staying there again. I will make other arrangements.

“READ MY REVIEW and DONT BE SURPRISED”
Bed sheets had holes, there were spiders in the bathroom. Bath tubes hole was rusty. Hot water and cold water was running seperately from the tap, which means when you hold your hand on the left it is too hot, you cannot get warm water! The corridors of the hotel is like labyrinthe and the elevator did not stop at my floor while descending. BUT THOSE ARE NOT really PROBLEM FOR ME, THE HOTEL WAS AT THE BEST PLACE FOR BIRMINGHAM, BREAKFAST WAS OK, THEY WERE TRYING TO CLEAN THE ROOM EVERYDAY,
“Good value for the UK”
I liked this hotel. It is a bit run down but has character. My room was very clean and the bathroom was huge. And - best of all - it might be the best deal in the UK. I would recommend staying here for easy access to Stratford-on-Avon, Warwick, and other nearby sightseeing since the hotel is very convenient to all of the train stations in Birmingham. The neighborhood is nice during the day (but a little sketchy at night). Hotel advertises wifi in the lobby and the wifi was good. This could have been my favorite hotel in my 3 weeks in the UK - if they had wifi throughout the building.
“We would go back”
Great location, very good breakfast easy access to train station for trains to London We would go back as it is a easy to get around the city.
“Location, location, location”
Excellent location in central Birmingham. Close to both coach (Digbeth) and train (New Street and Moor Street) stations. Neat and clean for an old hotel. Breakfast good; other meals not so good (little choice). Cheap by any standard: good value for money. The only real problem were the birds (feathered variety) that became very active and noisy about 3 or 4 am, which went on until sunrise. Still would stay there again.
“Review of the Brittania”
arrived with a wheelchair and no lift to the reception area you had to get ramps out. no-one helped. /we were given a room on the second floor and on the second night they had a wedding reception/party in a reception room accross the hall from us so very noisy until just after 12. The breakfasts were spot on, plenty of everything.
“cheap but clean and very central”
I was not expecting much so was pleasantly surprised. Do not expect an up-market clientele but the room was as good as hotel that are much more expensive. The lift was extremely slow and took ages to arrive - a minor irritaiton but bad if you were on a high floor and could not tackle the stairs.
“Good value very central hotel”
The central location of the hotel cannot be faulted. It is a little bit shabby in parts and doesn't look much from the outside. I've stayed here several times and am almost always impressed by the competitive prices. As has happened a few times before one of the two lifts was out of action - this problem really ought to be sorted out properly. The room was perfectly adequate and the bed was comfortable. The shower was excellent.
“Dont bother.”
Dirty rooms and smelly hotel the smell of food made me sick. Lifts take an awful long time to arrive. No parking available incovenient location. Will never be going back there again.
