“Great Place to Stay”

The Lodge and staff were great, I would recommend anyone to stay there. It sits amoung 3 or 4 other resorts on the mountain side with ski slopes close by. There are places to eat and get supplies around the lodge as well as from a community down the road from the lodge. The only negative that I can see is that the food and groceries around the lodge are a bit pricey. Even in Yellowstone, things are higher than what they should be.

“Nice Hotel!”

We visit Yellowstone and be tired of searching expensive but less comfort hotels at entrances, this one may take bit more driving but well worth it.

“Ski Lodge is beautiful, but too far from town in the summer.”

Nice hotel. Rooms have high ceilings, microwave and refrigerator. Pool could stand a make-over, but our kids had fun playing there. A bit far from the main town and from Yellowstone Park. Front desk staff was friendly and helpful, but were sometimes missing.

“Wonderful Hotel!”

We almost didn't stay here because of some reviews. So glad we ignored them. This hotel was very clean and the staff was very helpful. We enjoyed a nice continental breakfast in a beautiful lounge with a fireplace. The room had a sink in the bathroom and a mini kitchen with another deep sink, microwave and fridge. The room was very large. Restaurants, stores, and the ski lifts are all within easy walking distance. Would definitely stay here again and highly recommend this hotel.

“Could have been better”

Hotel very well situated for winter skiing but not a good place for visiting Yellowstone and returning after a hard day of park adventures. Surrounding restaurants seriously wanting... mostly dark and heavy food. Better food downhill about 6 mi at La Luna (healthy AmMex not-too-Mexican fare). Breakfast at hotel was horrid and insulting. BUT, because of this we found a wonderful breakfast -brunch menu at BuggaBoos down the hill 9 mi (turn left at light and then left again). Wonderful menu and quality. The hotel staff were friendly and helpful. The pool fun but tiles falling off pool side walls. Wallpaper falling off room walls in one place under the window. For skiing, maybe. But, in the summer just not enough attention to detail and some very important basics.

Area recommendations
Stay in West Yellow for Yellowstone visit. So much more practical.
Dining
Bugga Boos for Breakfast-Brunch or Lunch-Brunch. La Luna for very friendly health clean reliable good-quality version of Mexican-like cuisine. Snake River Lodge and Spa for lower Yellowstone visit and/or Teton - Jackson Hole visit

“Not a hotel for Yellowstone, Yet, it is a nice hotel”

Location: It is not a hotel for going to Yellowstone. Period. Expedia made the mistake that this hotel is near Yellowstone. In fact, it is 100KM + away from Yellowstone, and it is on the top of a mountain. Maybe it is good for skiing, but not for Yellowstone. Location is EXTREMELY hard to find, esp. after dark (no street light), and even GPS does not show the location (because the township of Big Sky is too small, maybe). Yet.... Room: Excellent, unexpectedly nice, high ceiling, and very nice inside -- 5 Staffs: Excellent, very helpful -- 5 Breakfast: Above average, the only thing missing is self-made waffle -- 4 Building: Excellent, new hotel -- 5 Swimming Pool, Hot Tub: 5 Location: If for Yellowstone -- 1; for Skiing, may be 5. Surrounded by NOTHING

“Beware of the bears”

This motel is nestled very near the ski lifts. We visited in August 2011 and although this area was beautiful I think it is mostly for the young who ski. This Hotel had the largest room that I stayed in on this vacation. The pool and hot tubs looked very inviting but I forgot my trunks. The breakfast room was beautiful but the breakfast was not what I expected. There were boiled eggsbut the rest of the fair was sweets and starches. Perhaps the offerings are better in the winter. Oh yes when we went outside we were warned that a small bear hade been seen just a while before we got there.

Area recommendations
In the summer there is not much do so we took a side trip to Bozeman. There was a lot more to do there.
When to go
This is a winter place
Getting there
Work is being done on Hwy 191 south of Big Sky. In fact there was a wait of about 15 minutes for the one lane to open for each direction. Some of the road was only dirt.
