“One of our favorite places!”

Lake Arrowhead Resort is a lovely hotel in a beautiful setting in the local southern California mountains overlooking Lake Arrowhead. The renovation that took place several years ago is beautiful, and each time we go back, it is like visiting an old friend. It is a warm and casual atmosphere, made even nicer by the hotel's dog-friendly policy. The restaurant, Bin 189, just gets better and better. The service has improved significantly, and the food is delicious -- we heard that a new pastry chef has joined the staff, and the desserts were outstanding. We enjoyed the special 3-course menu for Thanksgiving dinner, and the buffet dinner served in the Lakeview Terrace looked fantastic, too! Even the gift shop does a great job with pastries, hot chocolate and delicious coffee drinks. There is a very nice spa for those seeking some special pampering and relaxation, too. A quick walk to Arrowhead Village is always fun, and there are shops and restaurants to enjoy, including Coach, Bass, Izod, Jockey and Van Heusen outlet stores, as well as a few other favorites like Sondra's and Just Browsing. Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory, Belgian Waffle Works, and Papagayo's are some of our personal favorite haunts for a special treat, breakfast or lunch, and there are others, as well. If you want to get away for a weekend without driving far, I recommend Lake Arrowhead and the Resort.

“Lake Arrowhead Resort”

Weather was awesome and 'the Village' shopping center, walkable and convenient---for groceries (Stater Bros), coffee, dinner out/Mexican food, pizza and gift shops. Staff, amenities (we did the spa every afternoon!) were clean and courteous. Would have preferred the pool be a bit warmer (was ~75 or so) and the spa too (was ~95, if I guessed). Also, and my main reason for giving a LOW score for room comfort was the COMPLETELY SAGGING bed!!! We had our two young children with us and were fortunate to land 2 adjoining, lake-view rooms. Once we'd moved in all our 'stuff', I was too lazy to complain, but I never got a good night's sleep! My side (and hubby's too) of the KING bed had what was practically a 'pit' in the middle so that my back ached for the 4 days we visited. Should have moved to another room the day we got there. Oh, and I gave good score for 'convenience' of hotel due to prox to Village. Hwvr, gave LOW score for 'surrounding neighborhood' solely b/c you CANNOT go on the water at Lake Arrowhead UNLESS you are a resident. This rule su**s! Wanted to fish w/ kids and had to drive 30 minutes to Big Bear, which is probably where we'll stay next time, for the main reason that we couldnt' do anything on the lake!!! The Arrowhead residents sure have that wrapped up--bummer! Too bad the hotel has no weight to w/hold any taxes or other perks from Lake residents to barter for better lake use rights for visitors (at least those of us who would of course respect the lake).

When to go
We went in October; great rates, great weather! Would have gone to the 'Octoberfest' if didn't have the kids. Lake view room, w/ King was super reasonable. We could even afford adjoining room for kids (which we arranged thru the hotel - they can't 'guarantee', but we called to specify after resrving w/ Expedia).
Outdoors or beach
Bummer was couldn't find any real hiking in/around Lake Arrowhead, try as we might. Alot of parks/campgrounds/trails are 'closed' for 'offseason' (on season being summer, I suppose?). Also, since couldn't go on the lake (residents only), that limited our outdoor activities, in the gorgeous weather, at ARROWHEAD. We drove (2x) the 30 minutes over to Big Bear to rent a boat and hike. We will probably go to Big Bear next time since we prefer the lake access ability.

“Nice and not”

A friend and I stayed at the Lake Arrowhead Resort from Tuesday through Friday. I would give the hotel a great review except there was a loud group at the hotel on Thursday night that kept us awake until 1:00 a.m. The acoustics were such that it sounded louder than they were probably talking. I would hate to be there during the summer when the hotel is crowded. The room was well appointed and clean. The bed was exceptionally comfortable. We had a nice view of the pool and the leaves that were turning. We worked out in the gym which had good equipment. We ate breakfast at the restaurant in the hotel two days. The food was good and the service was friendly and efficient. They were very accommodating to my requests. Poor television options--few interesting channels.

Dining
We enjoyed two dinners at the Saddleback Inn. We cancelled our reservation for dinner at Bin ?? at the Lake Arrowhead Resort because the prices were L.A. worthy and the choices didn't seem that interesting. The restaurant was good for a leisurely breakfast.

“Very nice, we will be back.”

The rooms are very nice, we had a lake view room and could not have asked for a better view. The exterior could use some touching up of paint but the winters are pretty harsh there so I understand. The service was great and the spa was MUCH better than I expected. The only complaint was that the walls are a little thin and we could hear the people next door, there were several weddings that weekend and a pre-wedding party was going on, however, at 10 PM they moved on and all was good. The private beach was a very relaxing place to just hang out. The restaurant was okay. The entrays were great but the appetizers and the sides were just not very good. We would probably not eat here again but the bar was nice.

“Beautiful surroundings”

This is a very nice resort. Room was large and comfortable. Our room had a view of the lake and it was so peaceful to sit on the balcony and enjoy the site. There's a large lobby area with a fireplace and comfortable chairs to relax. This resort is next to the Arrowhead Shopping Plaza...easy walk. The shops, etc. close early ...by 6pm so go early to have time to go through stores. The people that work at hotel are very friendly and always greet each guest each time they enter lobby. My only complaint was cleanliness of bathroom. The floors didn't seem to get mopped but everything else was fine. Also skimpy on toiletries.I would go back and also will reccomend to friends. Overall, we very very happy that we stayed there.

“Great place for an October wedding! Absolutely beautiful!”

My only suggestion is for the hotel to invest in soundproofing their rooms. I could hear EVERYTHING.

“Highly Recommend this hotel and location!”

The hotel was awesome and in a beautiful Mountain resort setting. The room decor and cleanliness were excellent. The service up front and in the restaurant were also superb. I highly recommend it and would definitely go back there again.
