I've stayed at a few different hotels around Bethesda, and Hyatt Regency has always been my favorite. It's extremely convenient to the metro, which is located directly under the hotel, and downtown Bethesda restaurants and nightlife. I also love the large room sizes and the open space inside the hotel.
This hotel is fantastic, though odd in that they charge for breakfast. The staff was very accommodating, and everything was clean and comfortable. The only problem is that it's not close to anything - particularly with traffic. If you want to spend Time in DC at all, don't stay here.
I was a little concerned because others had had problems, but I found things very pleasing. Checking in there was a problem with my name (Expedia had Jr. at the end of my name and Hilton couldn't list it other than as Jr. as my last name. Next time I'll leave Jr. off.) Other than that everything went well. Parking had a cost, but in the DC area it was not out of line, but only a little confusing. We had drinks at the hotel bar and though it was a bit expensive, it was not out of line and the service was fine. The room was great and comfortable and the Atrium balcony seating provided an additional area to people watch and relax.
We stayed there just one night due to water leakage from the ceiling of my house. The staffs were really really nice and kind. And then, we were surprised that the price includes breakfast as well. And, we surprised again that there were two big brand new LED TVs in the room. (We stayed standard double bedroom.) The room was very clean and comfortable. I strongly recommend this hotel!!
"Perfect hotel for a group at the end of the Metro"
Economical hotel(which looks like it was apartments beforehand) that is plenty specious and provides excellent privacy when traveling with a group, but staying within the same room. We stayed in the Suite and had two completely separate rooms on either side of the living space with full baths in each.
Even better, this location is a 3 minute drive from the Shady Grove Metro station. That spot is the first/last stop on the Metro and is about a 30 minute commute to the Metro Center. Another perk is that there is parking there as well.
No complaints about the hotel at all. The free breakfast was also pretty nice. Lots of choices.
