Inner City Hotel not far from Alexanderplatz.

Posted 13-May-2014
Pros: The staff were excellent, the accommodation was good and the food was plentiful. German portions are generally much larger than I am used to.
Cons: There was a bit of noise from the street, which meant I had to close the window as well as the external blind.
Location: Alexanderplatz is an excellent travel hub & you are there in 10 minutes. From there, Berlin is at your mercy. Just check finishing times.
The hotel is easy to reach. Take a taxi or the TXL bus from Tegel airport to Alexanderplatz and then the 200 bus or M4 tram for 4 or 5 stops. The building is modern, clean and welcoming. The staff are very friendly and helpful, even when your German is poor. I found the whole experience very pleasant, especially because the staff gave directions, hints and pointers. They took time with customers, even when busy. They were also efficient and cheerful. I bought a 3 day 'Welcome Travel Card' which gave free public transport and Museum Access. I got it from the Tourist Information Desk at the airport and I recommend this option - I travelled on every variety of vehicle and went all over the city. The museums are also very good, but check whether it is best to book in advance for some and where you might have to pay extra for a special exhibition. I spent E38.50 and must have made journeys worth far more. On return to the Hotel it was pleasant to be welcomed back by the friendly receptionists and bar staff.

Terrific Hotel

Posted 17-Apr-2014
Pros: The room was much larger than anticipated with plenty of storage space. Since we stayed for nine nights, this was helpful.
Cons: The ability to heat water and to make tea and coffee in the room would have been much appreciated. Others have also noted this as a weakness.
Location: From Alexanderplatz, you can get anywhere but the system is complex. Get help. For extended stays, buy a seven day ticket.
We found the room to be very comfortable although we were on the street side. With the windows open, it can be noisy at night. Two minor complaints: the pillows are awful and they supply only liquid soap. You need to supply all your own toiletries. There is a lovely park across the street which provides a welcome respite from the city. Some have complained about location, however we simply walked to Alexanderplatz - a 15 minute walk, depending on the lights. My Mother is 93 and had no difficulty with the walk. The breakfast buffet is excellent. I am on a gluten free diet and was able to find plenty to eat. Hotel staff was extremely helpful.

Great hotel . Convenient location.

Pros: Great location. Good breakfast, room clean ,nice bathroom.
Cons: Perhaps tea and coffee facilities in the room and more English language programmes or at least English subtitles. Other than that a fab hotel
Location: Volkspark just over the road. Café Raum close by ..delicious lunch and scrummy cakes. Some small shops and cafes close by as well. Very nice area.
Great stay in Berlin. Lots to see and do. Unfortunately our flight was changed so we missed the Christmas markets but we still enjoyed our stay and managed to do some shopping. Staff at the hotel were very helpful and overall everyone who we spoke to in Berlin was friendly and helpful.

All you need in an hotel when on a city break.

Posted 07-Dec-2013
Pros: Cheapish. Nice breakfast (more than adequate).
Location: 15 min walk to Alexandraplatz. Italian restaurant & steakhouse (1/2 price on a Monday) closeby which were both excellent and reasonably priced.
Arrived early at reception. Checked in. Given room key. Went to room. Went out into City. Came back and went to bed. Woke up. Had shower. Went down for breakfast (cereal, egg, bacon, sausage. Toast. Croissant. Coffee). Done much the same for duration of stay. All as you would expect from a hotel.

A great base for exploring Berlin

Posted 08-Oct-2013
Pros: The location, the friendly and helpful staff and of course the breakfasts.
Cons: Nothing.
Location: The park opposite is great for a run or a walk over varied terrain. Once you get to Alexander Plata you can get to any other place very quickly.
This is a friendly and very comfortable hotel. There's a bus stop almost outside and the tram stop is about 5 minutes walk away. After that you're about 7 minutes from Alexander Plata with lots of other connections. I was in Berlin during the Marathon which did close down some of the public transport options but it only took me about 20 minutes to walk to Alexander Platz. There's a huge park opposite where local children and their parents and dogs have a wonderful time. My room was quiet and very comfortable and the breakfast buffet was fabulous - I haven't had Prosecco for breakfast before!

Excellent hotel in a good location

Posted 06-Oct-2013
Pros: The hotel looked new and well cared for. Breakfast was buffet style with a mixture of cold and hot dishes. Hotel staff were welcoming and helpful.
Cons: The directions from airport using local transport as the Berlin transport maps are not very user friendly!
Location: Relatively calm location opposite the Volkspark. Good variety of individual shops, cafes and restaurants and local transport to the Mitte close by.
This was my first trip to Berlin with my husband who visited approx 30 yrs ago. Berlin is a fascinating city full of history at every turn. It is not a beautiful place in the same way that many of the other European cities are, in fact most of the 'Mitte' is a huge building site at the moment, so it will be interesting to see what it is like in 10-20 years time. However, if you enjoy the history surrounding WW2 and the subsequent Cold War then this is the place for you. We spent 3 days attempting to see as much as possible, but underestimated the size of Berlin and the amount of things there are to see. Local transport is extremely affordable compared to the UK and dining out was reasonable compared to London prices, with generous portion sizes. It was a good trip overall which left us feeling completely exhausted, but eager to come again so that we can see all of the places that we didn't manage on this trip.

Excellent for all the family

Pros: Excellent standard of cleanliness, general quality and friendliness of staff
Cons: No air conditioning but this was minor compared to the quality of the hotel and we were quickly provided with an electric fan.
Location: Excellent location. Only 10 minutes by 200 Bus to Unter Den Linden, the Reichstag and the rest of the major sights.
We were provided with a suite of rooms without having requested them so this gave our grandson (aged 10) a room of his own with his own tv etc and he was delighted. The staff were excellent, very friendly, helpful and knowledgeable and were very quick to deal with any requests (our room was hot because of extreme hot weather so a fan was provided very quickly). At breakfast the staff could not have been more attentive and the few times we ate in the Stube the food was good and very reasonably priced. The location of the hotel is excellent and close to the heart of Berlin with the added bonus of the No. 200 bus stopping outside. This is the second 'Victor's' Hotel that we have stayed at and we cannot fault the consistently high level of service and quality provided by this group. We would have no hesitation is using this group again.
