“Excellent city hotel.”

Used hotel for short city break. We only used the room and did not eat or drink there, but looking at menu, prices were pretty steep. Hotel itself was perfect for a short break; easy access to public transport, friendly helpful service, very quiet (hardly semed to have anyone else staying when we were there), good sized room with all usual facilities, clean and well maintained. Only possible complaint was internet access. Room information said it was a pay-for service, but upon asking at reception it was a free wi-fi connection; unfortunately the connection was so slow it was virtually unusable so no use to a business person. Overall a good stay and recommended for a city break.

“wonderful hotel in central Berlin”

Wonderful friendly modern hotel. Extremely helpful staff, comfortable room with a balcony. Location is spot on, 5-min walk to the Brandenburg Gate and overlooking one of the most amazing squares.

“Excellent location, service, quality and value”

This was, without doubt, the best hotel room we have ever stayed in, and the staff were courteous, friendly and helpful above and beyond the call of duty. I cannot recommend this hotel highly enough. The location can't be beaten and the quality is second to none. We will definitely return to Berlin, and we will definitely stay here again. A faultless experience.

Area recommendations
We stayed in the Berlin Mitte - the historic district. Handy to everything, great shopping, picturesque offering the best of Berlin.

“I plan to return and will request the same room”

This was a great experience and near cultural and commercial areas of interest. Just the perfect location for traveling throughout the city yet in a very historic and formal area. Just perfect.

Area recommendations
This area of the Sofitel gives you the elegant and regal feel of this city. Yet close enough to various other neighborhoods with modern hotels, cool clubs, bars and great restaurants.
Getting around
Walk and taxi back if you are more than 1 person. Cost effective.
Shopping
Galleries Lafayette steps away. Kar De vE and many luxury shops. Great food presentation in both places
Dining
Wonderful food close by. Coffee is great at Cafe Einstein is very good. Aigner restyaurant in the hotel is a superior dining experience for traditional cusine.
Nightlife
Varied try different parts of town. Victoria is stuck in a time warp 1960's. Lots of cigarette smoke but very cool and great cocktails. It isn't a movie set but felt like "Mad Men" Great places for late night dinks and talk with music go to the Mitte section of Berlin the feel of Greenwich Village or TriBeca

“Nice hotel in a nice location”

The Sofitel is located very conveniently at the Gendarmenmarkt in the center of Berlin. Right around the corner there are lots of shopping facilities. The service was great, breakfast was very nice. The only negative thing I have to say is the size of the room. It was rather small. There wasn't much space to sit because the room was almost completely filled out by the bed. But it was still a nice room with a nice bathroom and shower. I would definitely go back there.

“Great hotel. Pity about the lights.”

The hotel is beautiful, as are the rooms. The only problem I encountered was that most of the overhead lights didn't work. I informed the desk and they were very concerned and made immediate note of it. Nothing happened. I gave up trying to read anything.

“Elegant fun”

Great hotel in a central location, close to transport links. The staff were amazingly helpful and really made the stay memorable. The hotel is understated elegance throughout, and the room clean and quiet with some fun quirks. Only downside was the expensive breakfast, but there were plenty of local places instead.

“Great hotel, would recommend”

Great location, very comfortable and quiet room, staff very friendly. Good spa and gym facilities.

Area recommendations
All areas of Berlin great. Most sights are central to Unter den Linden, Gendarmenmarkt - Prenzlauerberg also worth visiting.
