“Convenient to subway, pleasant stay and experience.”

I stayed there two nights and greatly appreciated the fact that the subway was just a short walk away. I could reach Potsdamer Platz in a couple of subway stops and the rest of Berlin easily as well. That is exactly what I hoped for, since I took the train there and did not have my car. I found the staff to be very personable and friendly, unlike other customer service experiences I have had throughout Germany. At first, I was a little leery of the area around the hotel since it is not highly traveled at night, (it looked like mostly businesses around it) but I walked my dog at night and in the early morning with no issues. It was well lit. The elevator broke when I was there, but there was a second elevator just on the other side of a short courtyard, so that was not an issue for me. I highly recommend this hotel and other Mercure hotels, for its convenient location and quality.

“Interesting time in Berlin”

Interesting, easy going place to visit. Plenty to see and do at reasonable prices. Need to book in advance to visit Reichstag, so we weren't able to do this, that was the only disappointment.

“Recommended”

Good location, 10 minute walk to Anhalter Bahnhof. From there it's only a few stops to most of the sights in central Berlin. Also, it's beside the deutsche technikmuseum which is really good and walking distance from Checkpoint Charlie. It's clean, well maintained and quite cheap so worth a look. I'd stay there again.

“Mediocre location, but solid hotel; would recommend”

In a bit of an empty neighborhood--but by no means a "bad" or scary one--bu easy walk o more central locations, plus a convenient Metro stop about 100 meters away which will get you anywhere in Berlin (Metros run quite regularly). Room was spacious.

“Comfortable hotel in a handy location.”

Friendly, helpful staff, spacious room. Only downside was our room was on the ground floor on the courtyard so a bit of noise from dishes/tables/people talking etc. No air-conditioning but we got a fan from reception which helped. About 15 mins walk from Potsdamer Platz but 1 min from Underground. Hotel sells some travel tickets which cover U, S, bus, tram in zones (A and B covers the city almost completely) and we bought 7 day tickets 27Euros at the info shop at Brandenburger Tor. Nice and easy to get from the hotel to nearby suburbs like Kreuzberg for cafes/bars. Overall very happy with this hotel (also, taxi to Tegel airport 20Euros).

“Berlin bleibt doch Berlin!”

It would be difficult to find this quality of hotel at this price so close to the centre of a capital city. Thanks to Gleisdreieck station being practially on the doorstep, guests can reach Potsdamer Platz in only two stops. Thanks to the efficient Berlin S-Bahn and U-Bahn systems, all parts of Berlin and Brandenburg lie within easy reach. The hotel was spotless and the staff, in particular the manager Frau Scheide, were extremely friendly - no Berliner Schnauze here. I did not try the breakfast at €16, however if my room had cost €16 more with breakfast included, I don't think that I would have been upset. There are nice little homely touches to the hotel, such as a "reader's corner" and I appreciated the complimentary newspapers. I was also very glad to be in a completely non-smoking hotel.

“Excellent value”

Excellent hotel, friendly service and great value. The U bahn is very close so everywhere in Berlin was easy to get to. Would go back to this hotel when next in Berlin.

“OK for the price but some deficiencies”

No air conditioning, which could be an issue for some in the summer. Central courtyard can be noisy at night, particularly if you have to keep the window open. Slightly off the beaten track but very clean and 5 minutes from the subway.

“I would not hesitate to recommend the Mercure Hotel Berlin Mitte.”

Despite being located in a drab street, please don't be put off. The hotel is lovely the staff are very friendly and helpful without being intrusive. To get to the heart of Berlin takes about a 15 minute walk, but the Anhalter Bahnhof (rail station) is only five minutes away where you can get to all parts of Berlin on a day ticket very cheaply, you can actually buy these tickets at reception. A taxi is no more than 5 minutes away the hotel is happy to call one for you. All in all I was very happy to stay at this hotel and would have no hesitation staying here again.I felt very safe walking around Berlin, far more than I do in London! I didn't have the breakfast because of too much sightseeing to do, but there are many great restaurants along Willhelmstrasse which leads to the Brandenburg Gate, with food for all tastes and budgets. Be sure to go on a couple of the Berlin Walking Tours, you learn a heck of a lot in a few hours!
