Good hotel

“A cheap hotel for better and worse”

This was billed as a bare-bones hotel, and it was. It was clean and quiet but the room is small, the shower tiny. It's the kind of place that doesn't waste money on shampoo or soap--just little squirt dispensers by the sink and shower. Although I tried for nonsmoking, with no guarantee, I got a room that smelled of smoke. The neighborhood is spartan but 1 block south of Kurfurstendamm and 1 block north of nice restaurants.

“One of the best I've ever stayed at”

There is a direct bus service (20-30 mins) that takes you to the Uhlandstrasse U1 station which is only a 5-10 mins walk to the hotel. Great neighborhood with a lot of restaurants, cafes and shops. Being close to the U1 station, it is very easy to go to almost everywhere in Berlin with the U-bahn and S-bahn. The hotel is just a 15-20 mins walk to the Gedächtniskirche and the KaDeWe. Although a little bit small, the room is very modern and clean. The twin bed was comfortable for me. Staff are friendly and helpful. They speak perfect English and will offer you a lot of free maps. Overall, I am very satisfied with my stay, and would definitely stay there if I ever visit Berlin again.

“Would stay here again”

First impression is that the exterior was less than impressive. But the staff was friendly, and we were the only ones checking in at the time, so check-in was hassle-free. We were on one of the uppermost floors, so there was a decent view from the balcony down Lietzenburger Strasse. The room was clean, and the bathroom was a decent size. Shampoo & hand soap were the only toiletries provided. There was a small ledge behind the sink where we could store all our toiletries. There was a nice built-in wardrobe in the room with about 8 hangers available. It had a big mirror and a conveniently placed outlet, so I could do my hair there, while leaving the bathroom free. On the day we were leaving we were able to store our luggage for free in a room just next to the check-in desk. It didn't seem incredibly secure, but we left our bags there for about 5 or 6 hours, and we didn't have any issues. The location of the hotel is very good; just a couple minute walk to the nearest U-Bahn station, and a 15 minute walk to the closest S-Bahn station.

“Good hotel for a family of 4”

We had a good sized suite with a balcony overlooking the street. The traffic was loud all night, but this is downtown Berlin. The desk staff was very friendly and helpful, and spoke english well. The breakfast buffet offered a very good selection of traditional German and North American breakfast foods. The location was very good with subway, tour buses, zoo, shopping, and excellent restaurants within easy walking distance.

“Good value for the money.”

Other than no airconditioning the hotel was comfortable and located within walking distance to many attractions. We were lucky to have a nice breeze on our second night which made sleeping much more comfortable.

“Great location, staff and rooms but not most comfortable”

Positives - Friendly staff who spoke English, clean attractive rooms, really good location - 5 minute walk from underground station and very central. Negatives - Hotel exterior pretty unattractive, no air conditioning or fans so room was far too hot at night, pillows weren't great, instead of a double bed it was just two singles pushed up together which wasn't ideal.

“"Not impressed"”

The interior of the hotel room was acceptable. The exterior was shocking. It looked abandon and rundown. My stay was in July and they had no air or fans available for the guests. It was miserable at night.

“Tired but clean”

Good location near Ku'damm. Externally looking tired but clean inside. Good size room and considering price paid was good value and a perfectly adequate budget hotel from which to explore Berlin.
