“Brilliant location”

Wonderful 5 days spoilt only by someone stealing my purse on my birthday. Berlin is a lovely city - the hotel is well located and the food delicious, although will not eat sausages or cabbage for a while.

Area recommendations
Charlottenberg and particularly Kurfurstendamm is very central for transport links, shopping and eating.
Getting around
3 day pass on U bahn and buses was a great way to see everything in Berlin and some things you don't want to see. Transport is much better than in London as it's not so crowded and very efficient.

“great place/great location”

Hotel Zoo Berlin is located on the Ku-Damm near the Berlin Zoo and a short taxi ride (or bus if you wish) from Tegel airport. Right across the street there is a stop for the city tour bus and a pick up point for other tours. There are restaurants, stores and museums within walking distance and the bus and metro stations within the block. The location is awesome, the hotel staff was extremely helpful and multi-lingual. The room was spacious and comfortable. We would stay here again without hesitation.

“Excellent service in brilliant location - great value”

Superb welcome. Huge room, slightly dated but very clean and comfortable. Took miy 82 yr old mother who cannot walk far. Hotel within easy tottering distance of buses and underground. Bus from airport dropped us just around the corner from the hotel. We arrived at 10pm and felt entirely safe. Brilliant shopping area, plenty of food choices within 100 metres. Hotel has superb glass foyer and bar on mezzanine. Breakfast was on offer at 10euros and was full hot and cold buffet with loads of choice. Service throughout excellent. Will return with husband.

Area recommendations
Berlin is just great. Give it all some time - well worth it . Transport brilliant. All Germans very polite and helpful and they all seem to speak English! If we had to pick one thing then the glass dome on the Reichstag giving 360 view of city is not to be missed. If you have eldery person, small child in buggy or you are disabled go to right hand side of steps where there is a disabled entrance. This will shortcut you to the lifts and you will miss the massive queue.

Day ticket for all transport - bargain.

“Hello 1980”

The Hotel Zoo is ideally located on Kurfurstendamm a short walk to Ka Da We and Zoologischer Garten Bahnhof. I first staid at this hotel ten years ago and enjoyed my experience. Unfortunately the Hotel has seen better days and is desperately in need of rennovation and upgrading. Its Four Star rating might have been appropriate 30 years ago but not now. The room itself was very dated with awkward arrangement of fitted furniture a bit like a ships cabin. There were two twin beds laid out along one wall with hexagonal table in between. The carpet was badly stained and marked due to its age but, otherwise, the housekeeping staff kept the room clean. On the plus side, the reception staff were efficient and friendly, the lounge and reception areas were appealing. There has been a lot of hotel development in Berlin over the past 20 years so there are many modern and pleasant places to stay for the same price or less.

Getting around
Buy a Tageskarte (day ticket) for unlimited travel around Central Berlin until 3am the next day for 6.10 Euros. You can use it on the U Bahn, S Bahn, buses, trams, and mainline Deutsche Bahn trains too. All very clean and efficient - well it is Germany afteral. Just remember to validate the ticket!

“GREAT hotel for the price”

Stayed here on business. Great deal for what you get. Location is awesome. No internet other than the lobby area, where there is wireless. Otherwise a good deal for what I paid (about 59 Euros a night). Wouldn't pay much more than that though. Lots of other decent hotels in the area as well.

“Nice looks, but the rooms are not that nice”

Nice looking hotel at the heart of Berlin. The lobby and front of the building suggest more than you'll get. The rooms are old fashioned, not 4 star material as they promote. Breakfast was okay, you'd better go eat out.

“Great Place in Berlin”

This is an excellent hotel. The location on Ku'Damm is perfect. Savigny Platz is just around the corner as is the Am Zoo train station from which many walking tours depart. Hotel staff were friendly and helpful throughout my stay. My room was very spacious and comfortable. I look forward to returning.

Traveller's tip
The X9 bus from Tegel stops in front of the hotel; a ticket is only 2.10 euros. Laundromat and internet cafe 3 blocks from hotel.

“Cant beat the location!!!”

Location wise there is not a better hotel. The public areas were modern, while the bedrooms were large, tall ceilings but a bit of a throw back from the 70s. Room had a mini bar, bathroom had double sinks, shower, bath, shampoo. Rooms were clean and serviced every day. There is no bar a such in the hotel you order drinks from reception. On a Friday & Saturday the hotel put a bar out on the street which is great. If your room is ready the hotel will let you check in early, if its not they will lock your luggage away. Food wise in the hotel we dident eat there it seemed expensive and they are not really geared up for it, but why should they when you are surrounded by places to eat!! Great hotel if we were to go back to Berlin I would stay there again. Your right in the thick of things, and an easy train ride from the airport.
