Nice hotel close to transport Posted 11-May-2014
We picked this hotel as we had stayed in an indigo hotel before and loved it. This hotel was a little bit of a let down compared to our previous experience, but it served as a good base to travel Berlin. The area around the hotel is a little rough, with people drinking on street corners and a slight smell in the air, but that was the compromise for being so close to a main train station. A couple of streets away is Ku'damm itself, with lots of shops and places to eat. The zoo and park are just a 5 minute walk away and are great places to relax in the city. The hotel itself is well designed and the staff friendly, however it lacked in a few basics which lead me to be disappointed with my stay. The double bed is two singles pushed together and the pillows are the soft type that leave you sleeping at mattress level surrounded by the fabric of the pillow, this was rather annoying!!! The coffee machine is a bit sparse of drink choices, I would have rather had a kettle and a few biscuits thrown in! The street is very busy and had roadworks,we were woken up at 6am each day, the windows need better sound proofing! We paid extra for breakfast, however no one ever took our room number in the breakfast room, which made us wonder why we paid extra as we could have walked in if we had paid of not. The breakfast itself was nice, but not stocked up and juice/bacon/eggs/pastry's would often run out. Ok Hotel, but I would look elsewhere if returning to Berlin.
