“Terrible IT, Decent Rooms”
Clean, modern and functional large hotel, but on the edge of a red light district. Rooms generally good value for money, but many of the advertised satellite TV channels fail to work. Has the worst broadband / internet system and connections I have ever experienced - high price, poor connectivity, little support. For this reason would not recommend to those who travel on business and want to work in their room, or those who want internet access using their own laptop for trip planning / event booking. Serves good food in a sterile, almost clinical, modernist environment. Staff good.
“Hotel Berlin, Berlin - very comfortable”
Very good hotel, rooms, facilities and service excellent. Food in the restaurant wonderful again with excellent service. Very easy access from Tegel airport, either by bus (only one change at the Zoo) or a very reasonably priced cab ride. Hotel is centrally located ideal for the Kudamm and the Tiergarten, both only 10 minutes walk away. U-bahn station only 5 mins walk. Overall an excellent place to stay for business or pleasure whilst in Berlin.
“Never Go”
Promise me 1 double bed. They gave me 1 single with breakfast.
“Nov 2011 Europe trip”
Very high quality hotel - appears to have been recently refurbished to very high standard. Spacious rooms and common areas. Extremely friendly and helpful reception staff. About 10 mins walk to nearest U-bahn and within walking distance of Ku-damm and Schoneberg restaurant strips.
“Great hotel! very modern, clean and comfortable - great bar in the lobby!”
a wonderful hotel, located very close to the main sites of berlin, lovely atmosphere, i definitely recommend and will go back there!
“Wonderful Hotel”
This is a wonderful hotel near the Kurfurstendamm shopping district. U-Bahn is about a 5 minute walk and the bus stop is right across from the hotel. The only thing was the TV in the room was not HD. The service, people and condition of the hotel was excellent.
“Good hotel”
Older hotel, but well taken care of. Good value and big rooms.
“Shabby rooms, nice lobby, restaurants and sauna”
This hotel needs a renovation of their guest rooms and the worn outdated interior of the room needs to be addressed. The sofa was falling apart with torn textile fibers hanging off the seats, the mattresses were uncomfortable, soft and more like hammocks and the bathroom was probably in the same condition since the 70s. Do not attempt to watch TV if you have a vision impairment, the TV size is more like a miniature and the image is blurred due to a problem with the antenna/ satellite system. In contrast, the lobby area, the patio, the restaurants and the sauna were modern and beautiful. The hotel announced a scheduled renovation for the end of the year.... do not go there unless they confirm that the rooms are renovated!
“It's my second stay, third one, nah”
The hotel is cool, everything is tiny though, elevator, rooms and beds. But no complaints. I had a friend staying over one night and we drank too much, after throwing up "big time", the hotel charged me $140 extra for using special detergent. I didn't like that, but i paid it and I promise next time I won't stay there, but I might change, cuz that was the only thing, other than that, the hotel is alright.
“A good place to stay in Berlin, and you can't forget the name.”
The Hotel Berlin is a large hotel that apparently caters primarily for business and group tour cliental. It's a good four star class hotel, very clean, largish well furnished rooms with good service and all the staff speak better English than what I do ! I had no complaints. A few tips; only a businessman on expenses would pay the hotel bar and restaurant prices; if it's your own money then go to the local bars, ditto breakfast. From Tegel airport it' costs a mere Euro 2.30 by bus direct from the terminal to a stop just outside the hotel (buses X9 to the Zoo terminal and then M100, both of which run every 10 minutes or so during the day). The location is excellent for shopping, it's a 5min walk from the end of the main Berlin shopping street and from K De W. You can access practically anywhere in Berlin by bus or Underground or Urban railway. The Zoo (recommended during weekdays) is a 8 min walk. Buying a day ticket for Euro 6.30 allows unlimited travel around Berlin on all forms of public transport, and for Euro 6.80 to Potsdam and back. In my opinion there is no need to use a sight-seeing bus at 3 or 4 times the price. With the pound at Euro 1.09, Berlin has become very expensive, but with a deal from Expedia, for the ordinary British tourist who wants to do the sights and museums in few days and stay in some comfort at a central location, the Hotel Berlin is a good choice.
