“A decent little hotel”

I was dubious about staying here because of some of the reviews. However we needed something cheap so got on with it. The hotel is absolutely fine. Our room was spotless as was the bathroom. I would definitely recommend it for a city break. It was a bargain. The surrounding area is nice. However if I went back to Berlin I would stay in the Mitte area.

“Needs refurbishement”

The hotel is conveniently located but rather tired and a bit run down. In temperatures of 35 degrees C air conditioning was essential. The only cool air came from the lfit shaft as the lift appraoches. Not somewhere you would relax in lounge areas . No coffee, tea or fridge in the rooms. Curtains did not block the light so hard to sleep in hot airless rooms - traffic noise meant that the windows could not be left open. All in all a disappointment.

Area recommendations
The neighbourhood was fine Ku'Damm.

We had everything near the hotel ,at walking distance, restaurants, shops, ticket sellinf office.

“It was cheap”

Booked their cheapest room for a 5 day stay. The room was tiny, about the size of a walk-in closet. It suited my purpose, but I wouldn't recommend it if you are clostrophobic.

“You get what you pay for.”

This was a basic, functional hotel which was perfectly adequate for our needs, good location in one of the nicer parts of the city and our room was really quiet, so good for sleeping. One problem only was that the shower room was a little smelly, but it wouldn't put me off staying there again and the staff were really great especially with my limited German.

“Good value for the price”

Good location, room very clean, cordial staff, agility in the check in and check out. No luxury at all, but very good hotel, specially because of the rates.

Traveller's tip
Near the main comercial street Ku'damm(less than 5 minutes on foot), with lots of shops and restaurants, were tourism buses pass frequently and all other public transports.

“A clean and comfortable hotel in a good location”

The hotel appears to be undergoing gradual refurbishment. Our room was clean and tidy, with facilities you'd expect from a 3* (certainly up to Travel Lodge standard). It is in a good location, being quiet but only 5 minutes walk from Ku'Damm U-station.

“Grand City Hotel Berlin Ku´damm - nur die Lage zählt”

Bei Ankunft schon mal nicht die gewünschte Bettaufteilung. Bei Nachfrage heißt es:Sie haben ja nicht direkt über uns gebu´cht, und andere Gäste sind schon gestern angekommen. (Mehr oder weniger:Pech gehabt). Zimmer wurden nur sehr unzureichend gereinigt. Vielleicht ist ein Staubsauger als Alibi dabei, benutzt wurde er wohl nicht. Ein Doppelimmer hat eine 1.40m Matratze und man muss schon Vorfahrtsregeln erfinden, damit man sich mit 2 Personen im Zimmer nicht ständig auf die Füße tritt. Weitwinkelaufnahmen sind alles. Frühstück überteuert. Selbst wenn man das Hotel nur für die Übernachtung nutzt, und sonst nicht dort ist, würde ich hier nicht wieder übernachten wollen. Das einzig positive ist die Nähe zu Bus- und U-Bahn Station, sowie die Hoteleigene Tiefgarage.

Das MIO am Alexanderplatz unter dem Fernsehturm sollte man besucht haben. Kleine, feine Karte mit ausreichend Auswahl, TOP KÜCHE, nette, freundliche Bedienungen, zivile Preise, Schönes Ambiente

“Etwas altmodisch”

und einfach, aber sauber und ruhig. Hauptvorteil ist die zentrale Lage und die nette Umgebung.
