“Clean, cheap and convenient”
This is truly a hostel. The room I had was very basic with bunk beds. The bathroom was roomy, hot water plenty and all was clean. The breakfast that was included was VERY sufficient. Good for a one night stay. No frills.
“Nothing aweful, but nothing really good”
I was looking for inexpensive, and I found it. Fortunately, the hotel was not busy or I would have found myself sharing the room and a bath. Hostel is a better description than hotel. Room was orderly but very out of date and no comfortable chairs (all plastic). No phone; no bathing supplies; towel the size of a face cloth. Thankfully, I checked in fairly late on Friday after business meetings and checked out fairly early to tour Berlin on Saturday. So I wasn't there too long. Not a welcoming neighborhood, although I certainly never felt unsafe. If you need cheap, quick, and less than basic this could be a choice. But I wouldn't go back.
“Satisfactory for the price”
The staff was very courteous and friendly. My room was clean and spacious with a roomy private bath and kitchenette. Plus, breakfast was included. However, the beds are EXTREMELY uncomfortable and one of the televisions didn't work. The solution to the mattress problem was to put the spare mattress on top of the one I slept on and there was another TV, so that wasn't a big deal. The neighborhood isn't very lively but there is a very convenient U-Bahn stop right in front of the hotel, so transportation is easy. This was a good value for the price but I could see how some travelers might label the uncomfortable beds as a deal-breaker.
“berlin marathon ideal hotel!!!!”
first of all, location is excellent. just opposite an underground tube station and only three stops (5 minutes) to main station. Great individual hotel layout, with a courtyard in the middle. Those who don't like stairs should ask for a room on a lower level though as there was no lift. Friendly staff and a mixed clientele of all ages. It has a vibrant hostel feel to it and this is a great point, as the rooms are of hotel standard. Definitely recommend, I would stay there again for the berlin marathon
“good value central location”
The hotel is well located for sightseeing etc (literally opposite a useful U-bahn station). The room was clean and very large- with six single beds over two rooms for the three of us (I can't say if this is typical however) The beds were comfortable with clean linen and the room was cleaned every day. It was however rather oddly furnished with a surfeit of office chairs substituting as bedside tables. The breakfasts were excellent. For a budget hotel the only criticism is that it was described as an 'apartment' with a mini-kitchen. The mini-kitchen is not kitted out AT ALL. So don't even think of being able to do even the most basic of kitchen tasks.
“City54 Berlin is Good”
Spent 3 nights on a city break with my wife and 2 kids (youths). Delighted to recieve a family room with 2 separate bedrooms, good size toliet and generally well maintained. This is a great option for a few nights stay and for the price I would say we certainly received value for money. The d-i-y breakfast was quick and easy albeit a little chaotic but nevertheless fun mucking in with everyone else in a cosmopolitan atmosphere.
“Good Option”
Rooms were very spacious with high ceilings and comfortable beds. Location very good for the city centre. Reception always helpful and spoke English. Good quality breakfast Ok for vegetarians.
“Top Anbindung”
