“Best Western Ost - Friedrichshain”

For the price & location (60 seconds from 2nd floor room to U-Samariterstraße) this hotel is hard to beat. Only problem we had was faulty aircon in our front-facing room, which was too close to noisy street to leave window open, but staff moved us to a better room at the rear at no extra cost. Noise levels in the hotel were pretty low. Didn't have breakfast, as there are a few good eateries within 5-10 minute walking distance. Our favourite: Aunty Bennys.

“Excellent Hotel in Interesting Location”

We stayed for 4 nights whilst attending a friends wedding in Berlin. My friend had suggested it because it was around the corner from his place and right next to a subway station. Which is true, there is a subway entrance less than 50 feet from the hotel door, making it easy to get around. It's 5 stops from Alexanderplatz, meaing it's about 10 minutes to the city centre. The hotel is standard for this class, with functional rooms and bathrooms and very helpful staff. Free wireless internet was a very nice bonus. The only addition I could suggest would be coffee/tea facilities in the rooms. The only issue some people might have is that the hotel is in a developing area of old East Berlin, so it maybe isn't as pretty as some of the areas in the West. It has an eclectic mix of people around the streets including students, young familes and older people. There are some lovely restaurants in the area, just ask the hotel staff for their recommendations. If you have the time, the Stasi (East German Secret Police) Museum is about 15 minutes walk away, and well worth the visit. We will definately be returning to stay here the next time we visit our friends.

I stayed here for a short business trip. The hotel was centrally located with excellent public transport connections. The room was spacious, very clean and elegant. Free wirless internet in the room. Reasonably priced bar at reception. I would definitely come back here.

“Great experience - I would stay here again”

The hotel is in a great location - not central, but about 10 steps from the front door to a subway station and we could get to the major attractions within 20 minutes. Very clean, bright, and comfortable rooms. It's on a major street, but with the windows closed, we didn't hear any street noise, and I am a very light sleeper! We never heard other hotel guests coming and going - at one point I wondered if anyone else was staying there. Turns out, our floor was almost completely full, but the hotel is just very solid and quiet. We would be out sightseeing until late at night and always felt very safe returning to the hotel, regardless of time. We didn't pay extra for the breakfast, but there is a bakery and a supermarket next door. If I had to find a "con", it would be that the shower stall overflowed everytime we used it - the water pressure is so strong that the drain can't keep up with it so it would always overflow. Definitely not a deal-breaker and I would recommend this hotel 100%.

Very pleased with this hotel, reviews are spot on, stayed here for 3 nights, couldn't fault it at all, it was spotless, very handy (literally step out of door and you are right next to a tube station), comfortable and like other reviewers here I would definitely recommend this hotel as a place to stay if you are visiting Berlin. I would stay here again without hesitation in the future. However, was just a shame the weather didn't play ball (it rained most of the time we were there) but then you can't have it all! It was November after all.
