“Berlin Plaza Hotel Sep 2011”
We have used this hotel before as it is located near main bus routes and the S bahn at Sauvignyplaz. It also has a couple of very good bars and plenty of restaurants nearby. Hotel staff are professional and helpful.
“Decent cheap hotel i n central Berlin”
Compared with some of the trendier central Berlin hotels the Berlin Plaza is a little dowdy, but then the price is very reasonable given the location. Within the hotel is a German-style bar restaurant - handy, if not inspiring (and you can charge drinks and meals to your hotel bill). Staff were helpful and welcoming. Our group of four business travellers booked four single rooms which seemed to vary in size and facilities. My single was a definitely a single with little spare space, but it was well equipped. The mini bar was well stocked but expensive. The car park had both outdoor and underground options and lots of room. Breakfast was pretty good. The combination of price, location and facilities could well see us back next year.
“Good hotel, good location, friendly staff”
Hotel is really lovely, food really good. Room was little too small, so was the bathroom, but we didnt actually spend much time in it anyway. Is close to U-bahn station and just about 5 stops from Postdamer Platz. Would recommend this hotel.
“Excellent base for Berlin visit”
A well-placed base for visiting Berlin. Hotel staff are friendly and helpful, the breakfast is excellent (cereal, continental cold meats and cheese and/or bacon & eggs), and rooms are compact but comfortable with good shower/toilet and a mini-bar/fridge (but no kettle, as is usual in continental hotels). There is also a restaurant serving traditional dishes. The Plaza is easily accessed by bus 109 from Tegel airport (get directions from hotel website; bus indicates where to get off) and is just off the bustling, up-market Kurfurstendamm which features numerous designer shops and many cafes and restaurants (and a useful Netto supermarket nearby for any food or drinks!). The major city sights and museums are beyond easy walking distance but the hotel is well-placed for all of the city’s efficient travel services (bus, U-bahn and S-bahn stops are all nearby). And it seems the hotel doesn’t take school parties (once experienced, preferably never repeated!), so all is relatively quiet. All in all, an excellent stay – we’d happily use it again. PS. A ‘French’ bed is a double – had us wondering for a while!
“Well Satisfied”
Most of the reviews of this hotel that I read before my trip were good, and I can only agree with them. The restaurant I did'nt use, but the bar was good and handy (though I did'nt use all the time). In some of the reviews, guests complained of noise from the street below. I was lucky in being allocated room 220, which looked down on a quiet car park. Location was excellent, and all staff were polite and helpful.
“Don't hire bikes here”
I hired a bike which had flat tires which I had to pump up. Only one gear out of 3 (the hardest worked) When I got back to ask for a discount I was told by rude manager that the Hotel was not a bazar and I had to pay full rate for faulty bike!
“Been already, will go again !”
I have already expressed my appreciation above.
“Nice hotel at a great location”
Right off the Ku'dam, and very close to a U-bahn station, my wife and I stayed at the Berlin Plaza. Our experience was very positive: nice hotel, helpful & friendly staff, clean room - albeit a bit small, but not a problem. We were pleased that our room for two had a double bed, and not the European norm of two adjacent single beds. Free wi-fi was also one of the reasons for our choice. The in-room safe was spacious enough for a laptop. The location of the flat-screen TV precluded watching while in bed. There's a food market just down the street, and the hotel minibar had space for a few of our drinks. Breakfast was included in our very reasonable room price, and it was good, as expected.
“Berlin trip”
Excellent buffet breakfast with large choice. Hotel overall very good, very friendly and helpful staff with good English. We were there over a week-end and as our room was at the front it was noisy at times from the street outside until the early hours. The room was very clean, nice bathroom, comfortable beds but could have done with a new carpet. Hotel was in a good central location for getting around and seeing the sites. Overall was good value and we would return.
“Excellent Location but we must havd the noisiest hotel room in Berlin”
For location this hotel cannot be faulted; just off the main shopping street (Kurfurstendamm) and within a few minutes of the U-Bahn system and hop-on hop-off tourist buses; nice bar, good food in the restaurant. Not a startlingly varied breakfast, but enough to get you going in the morning. The only problems we had were realted to the room: a) even by city centre hotels the room was cramped and b) we must have had Berlin's noisiest room....right over the car park, kitchens and the extractor fans which run ALL night. Little sleep was possible. Staff were unable to offer us another room as there was large trade show happening in the city and they were full. If you book...ask not to be overlooking the car park/kitchens.
