“Sketchy Neighborhood; Nice Hotel”
As we approached the Hotel my wife said "this area doesn't look as nice..." Well, it doesn't, but it is a nice hotel and it is convenient to most of the sights in Mitte (old East Berlin). Orangienburg Strasse is lined with prostitues in the evening, but don't let that bother you. Museum Island, Unter den Linden and even the Reichstag are easily reached on foot and there's a U-bahn station right around the corner. The room and bathroom are modern and pretty slick -- clean and comfortable. The staff was nice and helped make dinner reservations on the other side of town one night.

“Not a 4-star”
I had somewhat of a bad experience at the hotel, so my opinion may be somewhat jaded. Firstly, this is a boutique hotel, and really isn't 4-star quality. I paid for a superior room, however, on check-in, I was given a regular room on the 2nd floor instead of the 4-5th floor. I was dead from the long flight from Dubai, so didn't really realize it until the next morning. I went to the desk, and at first, they declined, but then said they would move me. Since the only real difference was windows that opened, a few extra square meters and a floor change, I opted to stay where I was. I came back from being a tourist, and my swipe card had been too near my mobile phone all day and got wiped. The desk saw me repeatedly trying to use it in the elevator, but said nothing until I approached them, and one of them asked, rather snottily, if they could help me. I gave them the card and the person started asking questions about my background. Apparently, this was a security check, but I told them that if they wanted a foto ID, all they had to do was ask, and presented it. The second person at the desk had been very friendly with me the day before and recognized me, but said nothing. Pro's are that a U-bahn stop is only 50 meters away and the place is surrounded by restaurants. Cons are what I experienced, plus as an older person, I was not comfortable there. No in-house restaurant, but there is a bagel breakfast. Not a four-star hotel at all!
“cool hotel in great location”
Very pleased with our hotel and would not hesitate to recommend it. I notice there are some reviews about noise from an adjoining open air bar area- this is Tacheles which is one of Berlin's must see sights. The noise in the late evening did not keep us awake,- you are in a big city after all and must expect some background noise Lots of cool bars, cafes and restaurants in the area and well located for public transport. The staff at the hotel were lovely and the hotel's Austrian restaurant very good too.
“Met our needs well”
The hotel was pleasant, clean, kind of avant-garde/minimalistic looking (and we kept walking past the front door because it has a very unobtrusive storefront!). The neighborhood seemed a little sketchy (hookers working the street a block or two down from the hotel in the evenings); but we had no problems whatsoever, and the hotel was very close to an S-bahn station, so we great access to public transportation. I'm not sure if there was hotel parking--we didn't see any, but we didn't have a car so it didn't matter. Breakfast was 'sack lunch' type of bagel/cream cheese sandwich and fruit, coffee and tea, provided in the bar--minimal, but sufficient. There was free, reliable Internet in the room, though we did need an Ethernet cable (we'd brought one). We were satisfied with the price of the hotel, the location, and our stay.
“Good Hotel but Know This”
The location is very convenient for use of the Ubahn and the unadvertised continental breakfast was great! The staff were knowledgable and willing to recommend restaurants - but down the street there is a very loud nightclub that stays open all night! The noise level in the rooms facing the street is unbearable.
“Great location - not good for business needs”
Hotel was nice and trendy overall and the location was perfect. This particular hotel had a little breakfast area which was included, and that was nice. However they did not have a business center and I needed to make some copies. They also did not have an iron or board in the room. I don't generally iron my clothes, but they really got tumbled in the flight. I was expecting a double bed or at least a full size, but instead they had two little twin beds, which were very hard.
“great rooms service n location”
Customer service was great they are friendly helpful and speak english well. Hotel is clean comfy and modern as well as rooms. Hotel is very well located between food and sightseeing.
“Arcotel Velvet is a class act!”
With innovative style, welcoming helpful staff and being well located for both transport and walking to the cultural centre, this hotel is a winner. Small independent galleries and charming neighborhood restaurants off Oranienburger make this a happening area and rewarding to explore. Yes, some noise seeps through from the club next door but there's so much to see and do in this stimulating city that you'll probably sleep as soon as you climb into those really comfortable beds. Arcotel Velvet ticked all our boxes and we want to return as soon as we can to carry on where we very reluctantly left off.
“Good hotel”
Hotel was fine, excellent bars and nightlife around the area. If you're a light sleeper, ask for a room at the back of the hotel, however the hotel will provide you with ear plugs, so they know that they have a noise issue!.
