“Convenient and Good Value”

Very handily placed just south of Checkpoint Charlie. Most attractions etc. walkable, but also U-bahn virtually outside the door to help reach those further away places. General quality of room and hotel better than expected considering the rate. Didn't try breakfast - seemed expensive - plenty of nearby cafes - one opposite is fine - and a nice one a block further south on the corner.

Area recommendations
Every area is worth a look really. Mitte, Museum Island, Tiergarten, Charlottenburg (for palace), KuDamm all interesting. Take a trip to the area on the north side of the river from Mitte. Eastern area (TV Tower) and Kreuzberg (hotel area) maybe offers less attractions. Found ourselves on Oranienstrasse one evening - lively place. Also a trip to Potsdam is well worth it./
When to go
Was a bit hot in July - best to avoid I think.
Getting there
Try to get the Airport Express if flying to Schonefeld - there's little info at the airport train station, so maybe an idea to ask in the terminal for advice - we ended-up on the S9 which had a bus replacement part way that was so disorganised it confused the Berliners.
Getting around
There are a couple of Welcome-type cards - we didn't bother in the end - some days just paid for the odd single ticket - some days just got a day ticket (eg. 6.80 euros for ABC zones covering all day in the City and to Postsdam or Schonefeld.
Must see
Pergamom is a great museum - though we made the mistake of thinking this also contained the Egyptian aretfacts, but they are in Neue. Also recommend Technical Museum. There are museum cards/deals available - we could have done it cheaper - also check-out the little tourist-card deals (eg. there's a selection in reception at Angleterre).
Other
Try bars Deponie3 on Georgenstrasse (near Friedrichstrasse station) and Dicke Wirtin off Sauvigny Platz (KuDamm area)

“When visiting Berlin next year we will return to this comfortable, clean and friendly hotel.”

This Hotel is conveniently close to Kochstrasse U-Bahn station. Close to Checkpoint Charlie (usually knee deep in tourists), and walking distance of Galeries Lafayette. A day ticket for all zones and modes of transport (surface and underground) cost a mere 6Euro and 80 cents and is valid from the time of validation until 03:00 a.m. the following day. Trains are frequent and clean although when we were in Berlin one of the U-Bahn lines was under major work and diversions were in place. All in all Berlin is a good place for a short break and the Angleterre is a good place to stay

Area recommendations
Wansee (the Berlin Riviera), the Commonwealth War Cemetery in Charlottenburg to see what sacrifices were made by young men and my 34 year old father so that we may live in comfort, Komische Oper, Potsdam, Leipsig

“Nothing special”

I arrived at around 10am and they were happy to check me straight into a room. That's always a bonus for me. The room itself was fine, nothing out of the ordinary although given I don't know the German language, watching TV was a real problem. There was about 100+ TV stations, but I could only locate 2-3 which were in English. The location was a block from Checkpoint Charlie. I suppose the area is a little far from all the action. Next time i'd prefer to stay somewhere more central. If you are looking for a decent gym, the one they have is very small and the equipment is ancient. It isn't too cheap to use the gym and sauna. Internet can also be pricey and it only works consistently in the foyer downstairs. It kept dropping out in the room. Overall it's a pretty reasonable hotel

Area recommendations
I would recommend doing a guided tour of the concentration camp. That was certainly an eye opener
Getting there
Getting there is very easy. A bus from the airport takes you to a train and then the train takes about 15-20 mins, all underground. Very easy

“No Internet or TV in the Room”

While the staff were very polite, they were less than honest about the electronic "fitness" of the hotel. When I inquired in the lobby, within the earshot of other patrons, about the Internet connection in the room, I was assured everything was available & I only need check the Hotel TV channel for instructions. Once in the room, I found that there was no TV service, (only static). My phone inquiry about this to the Front Desk yielded different information. "We are presently upgrading our systems and TV will not be available. Internet service is only available in the lobby". Very disappointing. VERY!

Area recommendations
The Adina Hotel in the Hauptbahnhof area on my incoming trip through Germany was exceptional for quality & rate. Unfortunately, it was booked up on my return stay.

“Fabulous Hotel--very comfortable and clean”

The hotel is centrally located in Berlin and very close to the U-bahn, as well as Checkpoint Charlie. All of the members of the concierge speak English well and are very friendly. The brunch at the hotel is quite extensive. My room was very clean, and the bed was extremely comfortable. Although internet was rather expensive in the room, it's free in the lobby. There are numerous coffee shops and restaurants nearby.

“Great 4Star Hotel”

This was our first visit to Berlin and we were not sure of the city's geography. The hotel's location only a stone's throw from an underground station made travelling to other parts of the city very convenient and there are a number of attractions in the immediate vicinity.Although the exterior of the building is not eye-catching, inside the reception area, restaurant and bedrooms were all in immaculate condition. All the staff were friendly and helpful. The choice of dishes at the buffet breakfast was varied and appetising. Our only disappointment was that when we arrived on a Sunday evening and not wanting to search for somewher to eat, we found that the hotel restaurant was closed on a Sunday and only a very limited selection of food was available in the bar. This proviso apart, we would wholeheartedly recommend this hotel.

“Location Location Location”

Great location for moving around the city. Rent a bike from day one. Its not the best looking hotel you have ever visited compared to other 4 star hotels but you would not find much to complain. The things that i did not like were minor things like the outdated tv screen and the lack of amenities like shampoo, body lotion and etc. The Speakers corner is awesome and the breakfast an excellent experience. I would undoubtly recommend this hotel because it is a great value for money.
