“Unusual but well equipped and comfortable”
Disco ball in reception. Very contemporary styling downstairs. Check in and out very friendly and efficient, likewise at the bar. Bedroom and bathroom spotless. Everything worked in the room. Car park is a few hundred metres away but seemed to be secure. You can pull up outside for pick up and drop off. Overall a pleasant experience.
“Very nice hotel!”
Proper hotel with nice staff
“Reading Pentahotel”
Good hotel and great location for Reading. Buffet breakfast fantastic - quality of the sausages bacon eggs etc was excellent. Room fresh and modern and the showers were great, as were the complimentary shampoo/shower gel etc. Chambermaids did forget to remove used mugs and replace them with fresh ones. They may have been distracted as this was a one off and it was fine for the other nights and the cleaning of the rooms was very good. Good free films - I saw the Black Swan and it was worth staying up to watch. Suggestions:- It would have been nice to have a new bottle of water every day. Please could there be an iron and ironing board in the room? Get rid of those dairy sticks, they were really difficult to open. More tea bags. Recommend this place its good.
“What a surprise...”
This place looks pretty dull from the outside, the inside was a different story very design led lots of open space etc... room was clean and beds very comfortable. Sky Sports on the TV and free wifi were a bonus! If you need to stay in reading give this place a go.
“Worst night's sleep ever?”
I spent half the night trying to trace a loud noise - switched off the air con etc but it persisted. Slept very fitfully and finally gave up and checked out at 6.30am. On the way to the lift I found the noise source - a drinks machine that was thundering away like a generator. Other gripes: no minibar, the 'double bed' was two twins pushed together., and the 'free' internet was slow and in 30 minute slots; proper broadband is £10 a day. When I checked out, I wasn't asked if I'd enjoyed my stay - they probably know better than to ask! On the positive side, nice bedding though. Overall, I only have myself to blame - the room was cheap, and you only get what you pay for. Their upscale rooms probably don't come with generators.
“Would like to stay again”
I arrived at 6pm on a Friday evening and it was a bit like walking into the busiest bar in town. Reception formed part of the bar, but fortunately I didn't have to queue. Rooms are very modern and trendy, shower's were very good and tolietries were fab! Internet worked well, bed very comfy and large. Only thing is no parking at hotel, nearest car park is a bit of a walk and was £14 for the night. Also bar was expensive at £19 for 2 drinks.
“good hotel for UK”
Comfy bed. Nice shower. Good internet connection. Very decent breakfast. Room good sized for Europe.
“Pentahotel Reading”
Great hotel, very hip and trendy. Rooms are spacious and modern, and above all very clean. There is lots of attention to details: free pay-tv, brand0name shower gels and shampoos, etc. Breakfast buffet is best in Reading, trust me because I've stayed at many places.
“"hotel is nice- staff are not"”
Rather surly unhelpful staff. One girl didn't seem to have enough English to comprehend the question "How much would it cost to extend our stay one more night". Staff at the desk couldn't give us a recommendation for a good place in Reading for brunch, nor could they tell us how long it might take to get to Blenheim Palace- local knowledge is a valuable asset to a hotel receptionist I would have thought, but staff barely seemed able to even understand English and were very curt in their manner. My husband even struggled to gain entry to the hotel after hours (they lock the door but don't have a door man on duty- not what I would expect for this grade of hotel). The double room was two (large) beds next to one another rather than one large bed. Bed was very comfortable but would've benefitted from more pillows. Got a good night's sleep. A fridge would also have been nice. Decor was very nice - very contemporary. Toiletres provided were also really nice. Location was perfect for the town centre, although lack of parking is a real drawback if you come in the car. Overall, I would've really enjoyed the stay if it hadn't been for the brusque/ unhelpful staff. Train your staff please!
“Excellent hotel, conveniently located!”
I booked this hotel for my husband who frequently works in Reading on business. He was very pleased with it....he has stayed at others in the town that are far more expensive, but definitely likes this one best. Very comfortable, clean, modern, polite staff and excellent breakfast, he said! I will definitely be booking it again for him as it is also a very good price!!
