“Excellent central location”
Great central location - easy to get everywhere in the town. Downside is of course no parking on site. Rooms were clean, modern and up to date but the communcal areas could do with some tlc/refurb. Really good breakfast - staff were very friendly and helpful.
“Centre of Town stop over”
Used thsi hotel as we were going to a concert at the Hexagon. It was within walking distance. Finding the car park was a pain as Readings signage is a bit out but once we got to the hotel it as fine. Use a wheeled suitcase as it is a short walk to the hotel from the car park. We were allocated a disability room as my husband cannot walk upstairs and it was great, with only 1 step for him to walk down.
“Good Hotel - If this is what you are looking for.”
If you are looking for a good value overnight stay in the town centre then The George is recommended. An old staging post, with history, but not very sympathetically updated. The rooms are clean and functional but uninspiring. A boutique hotel it is not. Main advantage is that it is right on the edge of the town centre precinct. Main disadvantage is that you can't get your car to it and have to park in a nearby muti-storey. Hence the "good value" label, I suspect. Service was friendly and efficient. Breakfast was of average quality but with good sized portions. Rooms were clean and functional. As I said, it all depends what you are looking for. I paid about the same as for a Travelodge but got a lot more.
“Decent and affordable old charm”
This hotel is well situated in the center of town. The building is quite old and nothing is straight, including the floor of your room which makes your bed tilt to one side. The unevenness is a little disconcerting for sleep. Streetside room can be a little noisy as late night passers by talk loudly. Otherwise a pleasant place offering good value.
