“Not my favourite Hilton Experience”
The disappointing thing about this Hilton is the quality of the breakfast. All the food was cold. The tea had even been made with hot, rather than boiling water. The pastries were all stale and were obviously yesterdays. I would definitely not recommend having breakfast at this Hilton. The room was comfortable enough, no problems there.
“Ideal stopover”
We chose this hotel because of the location as it was an ideal half way stopover for an event on the following day. Hotel room was comfortable and well appointed and the buffet breakfast was first class.
“Better than expected”
I have stayed at many Hilton's in the past on business. However, this time we were staying in a family room, and can honestly say we were pleasantly surprised. The room was very spacious with king size bed and sofa bed plus usual desk and other furniture, but not crammed in. The decor was excellent and the staff very friendly. The room rate was very reasonable and included a full buffet breakfast. Only drawback is that there isn't a lift serving the second floor, however we are staying there again next week and have been allocated a ground floor family room, so don't have to carry baby up the stairs.
“Four out of Five”
Fantastic looking hotel, great staff, fairly nice room, but two problems: 1. The bathrooms have vent holes to building ducting that is on a permanent vacuum to ventilate the bathroom. Great idea, poor design - because there's a central extractor somewhere, running 24 hours, the vent hole whistles and hums all night long! 2. The room I had (225) was apparently near to some kind of diesel engine (or something that sounded like that) which ran all night. I had to wear deep-set ear plugs to get any kind of silence when laid in bed (which wasn't a good mattress either). Luckily I'm a heavy sleeper and can sleep through thunderstorms during an earthquake on a bed of nails, so I slept ok, but others might not enjoy a night's stay there.
“Excellent hotel for a night or two”
We stayed at this hotel for 2 nights. We were going to a wedding, so it was not a holiday, but somewhere to sleep. The hotel is a pleasant low rise modern building. Car parking is good. Public areas are spacious, comfortable and relaxing. We ate in the restaurant for the first night. It was a strange mix of carvery (of sorts) and service. So we selected our choices but the waiter carried our plates back to the table for us!! Very nice, but rather unnecessary. The selection of starters and desserts was good. The main courses looked a bit dried out and the carvery choice was - turkey or turkey!! Also on offer though was a curry, chicken, fish and a vegetarian option. We enjoyed the meal. It wasn't cordon bleu but very edible. Breakfast was included in our tariff, and was very nice. It was a buffet. There were plenty of choices and the food was OK, although the fried eggs had been around for a while waiting for someone to take them! The bedroom was modern and adequate, although not spacious. The radiator didn't work, and a bedside reading light didn't work either, but the hotel staff were very attentive and quick to sort it out for us. The location for us was very good, but being right in the middle of a retail park, it would not be a relaxing location for a holiday, unless you wanted to be near shops. Overall, we were satisfied with the hotel and would stay there again, although not for a holiday.
“Great Hotel”
Nice hotel. Staff was very good. Breakfast bufett was great too. Only downside we had was that there is no elevator so you have to lug your luggage up to the second floor. Still well worth the dollars paid.
“Excellent Location”
This is my second stay at the hotel. The location is perfect for the centre of Newbury. The breakfast was up to the usual standard of a Hilton. My only complaint is that they didn't open the breakfast room very promptly. The room was very quiet, clean and comfortable.
“Will definitely go back.”
Excellent hotel, perfect location. Breakfast superb. Can't fault anything about our overnight stay.
“Useful but out of the way”
Once again I am back at the Hilton Newbury central. Very useful place but just a bit to far out of my way to walk easily. Rooms slowly being updated, very close to retail park if needed.
“The staff were very kind.”
We had a lovely time. My husband was on business so I stayed around the hotel while he was away. Thoroughly enjoyable.
