“Not Impressed”
Extremely small room. Tiny bed. No hair dryer. Insufficient lighting. Wouldn't recommend.
“Expensive 2 star in Bergen”
A very average 2 star hotel, very expensive for what it offers. It certainly would not get 3 stars in my view ! Rooms are very small for 2 people.
“Excellent location”
Hotel was as advertised, right in the heart of town and within easy walking distance of many attractions. Room was very small, but had everything we needed for a one-night stay. Shower allowed water to get all over the bathroom floor (one of these silly half-plexiglass shields and no lip to the shower.) Good for an overnight stay; rather small (we were two people) for anything much longer.
“relaxing stay”
the hotel was a bit tired but could not fault it for anything else. the room i had was clean and the queen sizwe bed very comfortable. the hotel name actually says budget hotel. so when you pay far less than a 5 star hotel you must lowere expectations. but i would much rather stay here than pay far more for a so called 5 star. the position of the hotel was perfect. so near to all the attractions. fish market, funicular, town centre and only a few minutes walk to the airport bus stop. the staff were friendly and helpful. as for the breakfast well, i reckon the best i have ever had. i have been to 80 countries and stayed in 1000's of hotels so i can compare with lots. you could almost name an item and it was there. all types of meats, cerals, fruit teas, juices, salads and hot buffet. only mushrooms missing. all the food was topped up and hot. i tried breakfast at different times and the standards never dropped. staff in the breakfast room always wore gloves for health reasons. what uk hotel does that? the breakfast room was very big so plenty of room even though a busy hotel. can't wait to go back to bergen and stay at this hotel. for the first time for years i came back refreshed and relaxed. those putting negative reviews have their opinions but just assume they have never travelled adn always expect 5 star hotels for 2 star prices. try some london hotels and i'm sure you will find a lot worse.
“Needs renovation”
Small room, very unconfortable bathroom (difficult to shower in small tub). Old elevator got stuck with people inside. Location is excellent.
“A correct place to stay”
The hotel is close to the Brygge and to the last stop of the bus from the airport. It is a perfect hotel to visit the city and/or to take ferrys to visit the fjords. Rooms are correct, even if they would need some "refreshing". Breakfast is correct and there is a nice place with free tea and coffee to stay.
“Why ruining your stay?”
Bergen is a very nice city, so why ruining your stay with a bad hotel?. I would have rather pay more and stay somewhere else. First, is not true that they have parking, we got there and they told us their parking was full and we had to find our own parking!. Like that is easy to do! and very inconvenient!. Worst of all, they did not offer to help us find a place to park, just told us to look around the hotel or go to a close by hotel near by whose parking is much more expensive. Second, the bathroom smelled very bad, I think it came from the curtain that had black mould, the walls also had black mould you can tell it is never cleaned properly. Dust on the furniture.... We also requested one big bed, or 2 beds put together, But it was not done. Of our 7 days road trip around Norway (1 night in each hotel), this was the worst of all.
“Adequate accomodations in Bergen”
The Thon Hotel Bergen Brygge is an OK place to stay in Bergen. The rooms are tiny even for a country where tiny rooms are the norm. In the USA it would be a 2 star hotel. It is a hike from the train station but is very convenient to the harbor. It is also convenient to the pick-up spot for the airport bus. The front desk staff is very helpful and pleasant. The breakfast is an excellent spread with everything you could possibly want. And, the free Internet is great.
“Thon Brygge, Bergen”
location is unbeatable. Lobby looks very nice. Staff is helpful. Rooms are budget ok; bedding very nice. Bathroom has heated floor but tub is not enclosed and water runs all over the place. Entrance door to rooms look like prison (really awful); Breakfast choices outstanding.
“Budget Hotel”
Breakfast was fabulous, but the room smelled funny - like some kind of industrial cleanser. The lobby, stairway, elevator, and piano bar were beautiful vintage and could be played up more. The staff could have been more friendly. The room was very small; I couldn't roll my suitcase past the beds.
