“Breakfast buffet was very impressive but room was very small and cramped”

The hotel is located at the very heart of Bergen within 100m of a stop of the airport bus. The reception staff were very helpful, friendly and efficient. The Breakfast buffet was impressive (obe of the best i've come across in a hotel of this class), with a very large selection in various fish, cold meat and chesses, cerals, fruit and bread etc. The one issue h ave wit the hotel is that the room was very small and cramped although clean and well cared for.

Area recommendations

Center, although outer areas have their own charm.

“Great location”

This hotel was very centrally located to many museums and attractions in Bergen. It was only 5 minute walk from the train station and about 15 minute walk from Bryggen. The staff was nice and friendly and the complimentary breakfast was delicious. It was nice that they always had free tea and coffee in the lobby to warm up from the rain. I will definetly recomend it.

Area recommendations

Close to the harbor and the market. It was wonderful visiting the Unesco site and shopping in the many cute stores.

Getting around

Walking is fine as a lot of things are close by. Great city to walk around.

An unbrella, you will need it!

Must see

Bryggen and the market. Also Funicular in Bergen. You will get the best view ever.

“Best Norwegian breakfast”

Great central location. Reasonable walk from the Hurtigruten terminal towing a bag (maybe 900m). Rooms are small but nicely appointed and comfortable. Quiet. Excellent location if you are catching the train or bus out - 10 mins walk with bag to the station along flat path. Also a number of supermarkets near the station to pick up food etc. Staff excellent and speak very good english. Breakfast is wonderful - so much choice and nicely laid out. Really enjoyes this stay.

Area recommendations

Old Bryggen area good to walk to and cheap market food.

“Good bang for buck”

Hotel was lovely. Breakfast was lovely. The plug in the bathtub didn't work but there was plenty of hot water and the room was huge. The carpet was a little stained at the front entrance because of muddy boots but still, all in all, a great deal. Super duper close to the train station (approx 10 min on foot towing 20kilos of luggage).

Area recommendations

Close walk to the fish market and a picturesque view of the old medieval quarter.

“Wait until 9 AM or later to enjoy the breakfast buffet to avoid crows.”

The breakfast buffet was excellent but was marred by extreme overcrowding esp. when the tour bus crowds descended usually early between 07:00 to 9:00 AM. Room tiny but comfy. Price reasonable for expensive Norway. Near airport bus top at nearby luxury Hotel Norge.

Area recommendations

Avoid tourist info. center. Lines extremely long. Buy a Bergen card if you want to save big time on museum and other sights and tours. Free walking tour leaves from YMCA youth hostel in Fish Square area daily at 11 AM. Buy sandwiches & snack at supermarket in basement of Galleriet in main square.

take funicular up to view cityscape. maybe take Fjord1 boat out to see Sogne fjord. I liked Ballestrand & Flåm icl. Flåm railroad ride. .

“If and when I return to beautiful Bergen I will be staying at Rica Hotel Bergen”

I have nothin but good things to say about the staff and quality of the Rica Hotel Bergen.

Area recommendations

Walk down to the harbour area/fish markets in the evening. A great place to eat and hopefully you may come across some entertaining street acts. You need at least a minimum of two days here in this beautiful city to really see everything.

“Great experience!”

“Great breakfast buffet”

This is a good hotel, especially close to the university, but also close to downtown and the fish market. The breakfast buffet is extensive and interesting.

“Short stay in Bergen”

This hotel has a good position in Bergen. The public rooms are modern, clean, and bright. The room I had, faced inwards and the outlook was of a brick wall. Not only that, it was very small indeed and there was no room to open a suitcase apart from placing it on the bed. Breakfast (a buffet) was extremely good and plentiful. The staff seemed quite friendly. All in all, the hotel was fine for a short stay.

“Very good hotel”

Professional staff, nice facilities, excellent breakfast. Good value. Use of iron was only in the basement luggage store.
