“Don't come until renovation is done”
This hotel is currently being renovated, with many facilities and amenities not available until renovation is complete (summer 2012.) Fitness center, bar, and restaurant are closed. Bare-bones staffing. Condition of un-renovated rooms is not up to standards. Insufficient lighting. Variable heating. Cleanliness of rooms a real problem. Our room had old shaving cream on the bathroom door and floor, hair in the sink and bathtub, used coffee mug on the shelf, and prior occupant's sweater in the closet. Room servicing sub-standard. Coffee service not re-filled during our stay.
“solid choice/ great location”
terrific location on the main waterfront area called bryggen. walk out your door into a charming recreated fishing village with shops, restaurants, fish market. the beds/room were clean and comfortable. the free breakfast was wonderful. all traveller amenities are there. this appears to be a popular choice with business travellers but that doesn't detract from its attractiveness to the leisure traveller. the shuttle to the airport leaves from the front door. we really enjoyed our short stay there
“Not impressed”
It was all a bit tatty really. The TV looked about 15yrs old. There were no ironing facilities in the room and the lighting was complicated; I could either haev all the lights on or all the lights off. Worst of all the sauna wasn't working. Other than that the food and service was excellent, and the airport bus stopped right outside.

Radisson SAS Royal is tastefully designed, well run (umbrellas instantly available - essential in Bergen),well located on Bryggen and comfortable. Buffet breakfast is excellent, especially since it would cost at least Nkr250 in a cafe or restaurant; but an obsession with earning green credentials means there's no margarine because they won't display individual packets. Beware also risk from trailing wires as well as from guests who ignore basic hygiene when slicing bread or feeling fruit!
“Horrendously expensive, but that's Norway for you!”
Lovely location in downtown Bergen, just behind the historic wooden Bryggen buildings, and had a nice modern feel to it. Reception staff were very welcoming and helpful, and check-in and check-out were lightning fast. Room was a bit pokey compared to the SAS Raddison "Norge" in Bergen, where we also stayed; however, unlike in the Norge, the air conditioning actually worked and ice for drinks was close to hand, and not several flights of stairs away. The bathroom was clean enough, but hadn't seen bleach in a while so smelt a bit "off". Breakfast was good, but although the tables etc were clean, the dining room floor was disgracefully dirty and a bit off-putting. As in most hotels in Norway there was free wireless broadband for customers, and not the usual UK rip-off. Good points: free internet, food, comfortable beds Bad points: need to raise cleanliness a notch or two.
“Not impressed”
The hotel has an excellent location and a nice lobby, the food is very good and staff is very friendly; But I expected better rooms; No difference between the business and standard rooms but free internet; the health club is small and badly maintained, you need to go the the reception to get the towels for the health club (!)
“Radisson Blu Royal Hotel, Bergen : hotel à recommander !”
Hôtel agréable et très bien situé dans le quartier hanséatique, proche du port (marché aux poissons) et du centre ville,bus pour l'aéroport juste à l'entrée de l'hôtel, station de bus pour sortir de Bergen à proximité. Chambre spacieuse et agréable, petit déjeuner buffet délicieux et varié.
