“Great Location, Breakfast, and Price”
My partner and I have just returned from an eight night stay at the Hotel Holberg. We would definitely stay there again if we could be so lucky to be in beautiful Bergen again. The negatives were maids that came in before knocking and ignoring the Do Not Disturb sigh on one occasion. Although they did a good job of cleaning they did not always replace used glasses, or hand towels. You can not turn on the light for the toilet without turning on the light for the rest of the bath, which means you are basically lighting the whole room. A nuisance. The password for wi-fi access is changed twice daily, which you must run downstairs to the desk and they will hand you a printout with the new password. Another nuisance. The breakfast spread was fantastic, the hours convenient, and coffee and tea is available at all hours. The staff is courteous, checkin and checkout were quick and easy. Bergen receives some rain daily and the great in-town location was convenient for popping in every so often. The surrounding neighborhood has many stores, groceries, coffeehouses, cafes, and charming little streets worth meandering. Also close to the water for good photos across the harbor of Bryggen and surrounding hills. The plusses outweigh the few minuses. We do recommend. Cheers!
“H. S-J”
Great central location, breakfast ok, but restaurant closed over Easter. Room comfortable but on the small side.
“Downtown Bergen, Norway”
Great hotel in downtown Bergen, Norway. Very reasonably priced compared to other hotels in Bergen. Bergen and Norway in general are not inexpensive. So, Holberg is a good deal. Great restaurant -- Chillis -- in hotel building. Had a great meal there.
“Nice hotel in a nice location.”
This hotel is in a nice area of Bergen - close enough to walk to most things, while being out of the way enough to be quieter. Good selection at breakfast, nice decor in the rooms. But they do need to work on the "stay longer on Sunday" option - don't have all the room keys deactivate at noon if you're letting everyone check out at noon. :-) A minor problem at an otherwise good hotel.
“Super hotel!”
It was a lovely place to stay! Excellent services, friendly and very helpful staff, good breakfast, very clean. The room was small, but it was ok, because we are in just for sleeping. Оne was bad - the room has NO fridge, even small one. We will definitly come back.
“Surprisingly good!”
Despite being slightly out of the city's heart, my experience with this hotel was very positive. Efficient services, helpful staff, good breakfast and comfortable rooms, and all of that for a very competitive price. I would definitely recommend it.
“ideal location for a bergen holiday”
the hotel was very easy to find 5 minutes from the fly bus drop off at the fish market .the room was very clean and comfortable ideal for a weeks holiday it was in a nice quite area of bergen all the staff were very friendly and helpful anything we asked for we got straightaway the breakfast was good there was plenty of choice if you left hungry it was your own fault we liked tea and coffee being available 24 hours a day and the waffles were a great pick me up after a days sightseeing in bergen we would recommend this hotel
“bring you own pillow”
The room was small and narrow NO closets to hang clothing and NO dresser. NO soap, shampoo etc,,, The bed was very narrow large people would have trouble. The pillow was a flat pancake. THe bathroom no ventilation bring your own air freshener. The window opened a small crack when it was hot we sweated. The staff was rude and unhelpful. STAY SOMEWHERE ELSE
“Satisifed”
The rooms are small, clean & very utlitarian. The breakfast buffet was more than adequate. We were on a budget and this hotel satisfied our needs and met our expectations.
“A good hotel for an overnight stop”
Convenient for the town centre. The airport bus drop-off at the fish market is a 10 minute walk. The Hurtigruten terminal is also a 10 minute walk away (over the hill!). The room was clean and quiet as it looked out onto a small street at the back of the hotel. Coach parties use the hotel and it was VERY busy at breakfast time. The buffet breakfast was good and up to typical Norwegian standards.
